Magic resists (Jewel boosted)

Post by petej »

Interestingly its not all about combat lvls with resists (magic) , my base resist from combat is only 137 (highest combat = 162 heal) but jewel boosted i get 250 (highest lvls as signature) with apropriate jewels

Im intrigued to know what this would actualy mean in a PvP situation but have yet to test it ,melee or range would still woop me but i could be a tougher nut to crack for a mage (if i could cover all resist groups used)

Has anyone tried to work out resists and how that alters your effective lvl in magic combat?

i've never seen a jewel that boosted a resist more than 25

and jewel resists dont stack
and your resist should be your highest level - 25 for all of them

what did you do?

Someone should mebbe work out the restists for armors too, see if it's possible to craft a high nuke resist set of armors. If it is possible and combined with joolz, a person can be a one-man mage killer tank!

Apparently (I can't tell because elemental is one of my highest levels) the natural resis is your mage/fight level - 25, *but* it seems (at least for petej), the jewles can go up to your "highest" level, which is dig/craft.

so, e.g. ele/fight max 150, natural resist 125, but with jewles 250 because highest level is 250 dig (or so it seems, I was surprised too)

Yesh, confirmed. What I know from observation: As noted your resist defaults to your highest combat skill - 25. However, if you have a jewelry item that gives a particular protection, you will resist at:

Min( [quality of jewel], [your highest level] )

So if you wear a q250 fire-protect earring and your highest level was 249, you now resist against fire at 249.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to compare the effects of the additional resistance, but from what I've heard described it is significant - even those last 25 levels, from the default of 225 if you have a 250 combat skill, up to the 250 with jewelry, should make a very big difference. But, I could be wrong... ;)

Just to note, crafting and harvesting can set resists if high. I think is was something like (your highest combat skill - 25), or (half your highest non-combat skill - 25), whichever is highest.
