it's definitly overheating. i've put some ice cubes underneath, and it stopped turning off for 4 hours in a row.
it happened before, but never so quickly (after 2 minutes of game only).
i'll have it repaired as soon as i've got a day without work.
meanwhile, i'll use ice lol, hopefullly it won't soak the comp :)
ty all, and see you soon then.

Humm to the best of my knowledge water and electonics are a bad mix :P
(even if sealed, the condensation produced might do more harm than good.

Hope you have good life insurance and deep pockets to replace all the fused stuff.

It could just be that the improved circulation from having the laptop raised off the desk (because you put ice underneath) did the trick? :p

As sprite mentioned..... the fan for a laptop is underneath with very little clearance which leads to over heating if left on for lengthy periods. As there is so little clearance any dust build up can also make the problem worse. If you check task manager you will see that the ryzom process hogs as much cpu as it possible can, usually well over 90%.

If you are competent enough I would suggest opening the unit and give it a good blow out (you can buy cans of compressed air for this), check the bearings in the fan on the heat sink (if this is part of the cause you will probably have noticed that its been a lot noisier than normal). If you dont fancy completely opening her up there are often little access panels in the bottom, blow it out through those.

Definately stop using ice :) Get two books (or something similair) and place them at each end to raise the clearance and allow the fan to breathe a bit more.

Alternatively pop out the 2 handy little feet the engineers spent hours hiding and made impossible to have both out at the same time :P

oh Snake, this was done years ago :)
i did put a wooden tray (like a platform) under the comp, and now added the ice cubes underneath this thing... actually, my installation somehow looks like the Eiffel Tower... or the Pise one, it depends on the time :)

well, i'm not good enough with my fingers to open such a tiny thing as a laptop, so i'll take it to my favorite chinese, which actually happens to be very close to the Nevrax office :)

hopefully that will be ok on saturday.

see you soon all

ps : Neun, the things you mention are not included on my comp, not even on the keyboard of my other one :(
