Guess we'll truly see how creative our community is. We asked to be able to effect our world...be careful what you ask for... :P

If we can program the creature AI and interaction, I think this will rock. Otherwise, I fear, people will simply go to the easiest created zone. Also, where does this leave harvesters?
Some days ago i talked about the mats problem. But i belief that this will be handled in a balanced way.

The following was announced there:

Provide a unique game experience for others players by controlling every aspect of a scenario that you have designed :
» trigger events
» spawn and manipulate creatures

Sounds good. Cant wait for it.

I remember that Nevrax uses lua. Dont know how much the Nevrax tool will offer. Those who seek basic knowledge should take a look here http://www.lua.org

lol

I wonder if we can form a group of players "angel investors" to own a part of an mmo that we love to play.

That'll be wild, a partly-player-owned mmo.
That would be cool, however the fact is, we can't even own the character we made and sell the account on Ebay. So, who do you think will own the map and everything you develop???

stock = piece of the company Nevrax
map = gamecontent in SoR

These are two totally different things. And owning things you develop, a map is a type of creative effort and unless you agree otherwise somewhere you intellectual property.
Remember thought that it is likely you will agree to a creative commons licence before it can be published on the servers...

Yes yes, you totally misunderstood me forest. I was talking about really investing in Nevrax stocks, i.e. becoming an angel investor. I was sorta kidding.

This is fairly unlikely actually.

Creating maps and content for Ryzom using their tools, their graphics and hosting on their servers to be interacted within their game is pretty damn solidly under the heading of 'derivative works' and it is hellishly unlikely you will retain any rights to anything produced for use with this. (They may prove me wrong but I deal with IP issues, copyright, public domain and similar almost every day).

Does this mean its bad? No, not necessarily. You'll still get 'paid' by participating and helping to create a more active and interesting game community.
