I don't think it'll really be possible to exploit the Ring system. To keep the main game world intact there can obviously be no xp gain in these shards (the ones that aren't created by nevrax), and mats won't be able to be used in the main game either. Really, the ring system looks like a big tool to give us the possibility to implement something many have been crying out for and others ultimately avoid; real roleplaying opportunities!

Also, I look forward to what Jyudas and many others were talking about many moons ago; Dungeons without the underground tunnel nonsense. If Nevrax want to put in a small area that only lasts for a brief amount of time, or even only at certain times of year, if they want to teleport someone away to a secret place or open up the portal to the mother of all Kitins, they have that power in an easy to use toolkit now. It must be fairly easy to use if they are giving it out to all and sundry, after all! Which means not only will there be our own, unofficial maps (some of which will be good, some patently awful) but hopefully official maps springing up soon.

Only downside for me is that I don't have a credit card. :(

Until Nevrax gets other payment options available, I will lurk in the mod corner.

As for me, I have made maps and mods in a plethora of (3D) games, all the way back to Quake 2. :)

If anyone remember any CLQ ratings back then, I featured in the top 200 frequently. :D

Agree :) We will be able to play adventures in prepared maps. As Nevrax announced, the top maps will be hosted for free. I think there will be a top10 site online. And i think that Nevrax will allow *all* features (mats, hunting XP) on the approved maps they host for free.

One thing about maps i learned in the last years. A lot is plain crap but the best maps are always player made too :)

I allready dream of supreme hill :D A lovely hill surrounded by little lakes. Once a year, let say in summer from 15:00 to 17:00, there is different supreme on the top. But the hardest aggos with their herds like to migrate to the lakes around the hill while this particular season. While winter the aggros migrate to the coast and the lakes turn out to be hot springs...

- First tests of the ring will start in autum 2005
- The first step-release will be online winter 2005
- There is a dedicated team only for the ring so development of the
original Ryzom will not be disturbed
- This is what Nevrax assures...

In the first step of R2 release players will have limited possibilites in building worlds. Future updates will more and more liberate the possibilities. The jump to the maps will be possible for all servers. So Aniro, Leanon and Arispotle players can meet on a custom area.
1.) I would like to see a reference to some official statement about this (I can read german thats no problem)

2.) Nevrax was (or is) in serious financial trouble. Having an extra team for this means they had to cut down on otehr team which IS affecting the "original" Ryzom

3.) They fiddle around with their spring cleaning and minor changes since THREE month. How likely is it that they get a working version to the players in the next 6 month

4.) The announcement that the current patch is yet delayed another time made my day. At least it doesn't force me to decide wether to return to Ryzom or continue my excursion in other worlds.

I read the monster article, but I have no clue where he got his information from. That is not official for me.

I have a 10 day trial pass of the big 3 word game, because me wife bought it. It some nice entertainment for some time, but I can already tell that it won't be something I will play for a long time.

You can ask the author about its source. All i can say is that golem.de is not the badest site out there..

The other game ist fun. Gave me many hard laughts. But its very linear and will lead you to an end.

I never played a game based on a D&D ruleset. Does anyone have some informations about such games. What is it with those rulesets ?

D&D or AD&D based games are the most common tabletop RPG's out there. They were one of the first too afaik.

Several games borrowed these rules or just implemented a computer supported version of such a tabletop game.

This will give you some more information : (you might need to copy and paste the link in a new window)
