I'm not sure what can be done to prevent populating an area full of supreme mats,
unless maybe harvesting won't be allowed in user-created areas either.
if you won't get xp there, many players would call that areas useless. dont know how it is on your server, but when we have a so called "rpg event" you can very often hear the question "when is that over, I want to lvl?" or "I want to kill something to lvl now!"..

OMG my eyes are getting a bit damp. Morrowind, my all time favourite rpg owes a great deal of its greatness and staying power to the construction set accompanying it. Years later there a robust modding community is still busily creating new quests, skins, models, items - even races! Granted that surrendering nearly total control of a MMORPG to its players could never work as it does in a single person RPG, if even a tiny fraction of the modding spirit makes its way onto Atys, we are on the threshold of something truly amazing.

... whee, will go take my mood stabilisers now :D

This all can seem very exciting, people think very differently, and will create different content/worlds. It is intersting... some thoughts.

* The ability to create training areas to teach things to new people. i.e. control how the NPC talks to the players teaching them how to edit a stanza.
* Controlling the interactions of animals would be incredible.
* Interested to see what control is really at hand in this, and how they will keep it honest and fun.
* Not tieing into the storyline and progression of the game.
* A distraction from the real game, if we were over populated, maybe this would be just an occasional diversion.
* Maybe this gives Nevrax some time to get everyhting else in order.
* Maybe this brings some new players who desire this, or has a large population base return.

A question: Are these user created "instances" content? or just diversions? If you would like to respond to this quesiton please create a seperate thread.

Just thinking it through without the insight and details from Nevrax.

I agree. I'm sure the very first thing Nevrax confronted was how to keep this expansion from being exploited. And I'm far from having full faith in them, but I bet they came up with a system a little better than no XP and no mats. I look forward to seeing what it is.

Any submitted new user-content will be checked, it MUST be. Else, abuse will come from everywhere (or worser : bug)
It's a great idea but a tough work now and after for both side (devs and community :p )

keep this up :)
guess i'll fall again in the modding.

Like I mentioned in another thread, unless we can manipulate behavior, this will be the same fights just with a different background and people will gravitate the easiest ones. The challenge of truly new content is the change in tactics required. In order, to get people to endure truly difficult content, requires a prize. Sure people may do it as a challenge a couple of times, after that rewards are required. Let's hope they intend to introduce new goods. They needn't be uber loot, but certainly more varity, new colors and styles for armor and weapons.

Thats quite cool really. Instead of making a new land which people may or may not like. They are inviting us all to become devs to a certain degree and create the lands we want to play.

I can see it now....YUBOLAND THEME PARK!! with a McDonalds every 300 meters.

Base on this bit.
Provide a unique game experience for others players by controlling every aspect of a scenario that you have designed :
» trigger events
» spawn and manipulate creatures
» take control of key NPCs to play out their roles
I am guessing that it'll be instances and is mainly a tool for creating "scenarios", i.e. player events.

With the wonderful players created events right now on Atys without tools, imagine how awesome they would be with tools...

Also, I remember back in the MUDs day where my roomie would actually code his own zone to tie into a MUD world, which requires you to submit and have it be reviewed by the admins before being published. You can't just create exploit zones and uber items drop etc.

It worked fine for them.

This quote makes it sound not-instanced, but its hardly concrete.

"When you participate in the Ryzom Ring, you contribute to the richeness of the Ryzom universe. Fellow players will seamlessly wander from the mainland of Atys into your new map. Come create your legacy within the Ryzom Ring !"
