Less love, marriage, and harmony... More conflict, death, and war!

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

Is there too much happiness on Atys?

No. In fact there isn't enough, we want to go skipping across a field of flowers together!

No. There is just the right amount of happiness, as the website says "life is sweet on Atys".

Yes. Homins are just too happy these days more needs to happen to make them stressed out.

YES! I've sent a message to the Kitin leaders telling them to come have homin snacks for often.

I very much agree with Saiwin in this thread. The PvP zones are few and far between compared to the average Joe Homin, It will just be incredibly difficult to make Joe Homin believe that he needs to go travel 1000 meters to get to a PvP zone and fight for some cause.

What will be left are the few bloodthirsty guilds going at each other's throats, and we've seen this story and it's ending before I think.

I'm in favor of having something to fight for, with risk of losing it.
I'll just say be extremely careful how you go about doing something like this, just my advice from reflecting on what's happened in the past. :0)

Have to agree there. Something more than just a contradicting religion and the color of someone's skin would have to make me want to go out and kill other people.

I enjoy the friendliness of the game, it's a welcome relief over some of the infantiles you come across in others.

Outposts might be the solution but even then they'd have to have a benefit to my race/guild/faction in some way to make it worthwhile to me.

Now isn't that an interesting comment. I hadn't really noticed except for the eagerness to post relentlessly. Although if it is Xcom, I must applaud a bit as he has matured some. The baby avatar could be a giveaway too.

Taking this a bit out of context (apologies :p )

The world we live in today (atys that is) is a world that has been devestated by a kitin assault. We are the people left who had to build up our strenght. The last skirmishes between the nations could be seen as growing pains. The kitin still send out raiding parties (like the invasion we repelled) and on a whole we seem to be on the defensive with some verry heroic actions in between (engaging the kitin in their nests).

The next fase would be to build up outposts to have better controll over the land and to be ready for outside intrusion by the kitin or invading nations. I feel the story is going verry well in this aspect, it is not overly fast and if you step back and look at what we have seen, we have stood our ground and measured up the assault(s) thrown at us all. And what is the goo up to ?

Nevrax is slowly (dreadfully slow, or at a steady pace depending on what mood I am in) pushing more things ingame. It feels a bit like civ, first you have 1 city and a few pikemen, then more cities, more tech and more possibilities.

The emotionless environment or build up fase as I like to see it is a beginning for us, the long saga we singed up for, the book we are all playing our part in. At the moment we are learning to love certain parts and become emotionaly attached to people, places and ideas.

Reasons not dealing with religion and color of skin

1) Attempting to take control of a neutral area such as the nexus. This could be done by having people guard the entrances and killing anyone who tries to enter.

2) Stealing resources from a land to the point of causing the Kami tolerace to drop low.

3) Attempting to take control of another races lands.

4) One race spying on another race.

5) A race taking an action to hurt another race. (Matis stopping water from getting to the desert).

6) A race finding something like an artifact or teleport and keeping the information to themselves.

7)Violation of laws in another races lands.

There are a ton of reasons for conflict to happen. Unfortunality some people wouldn't play along with those senarios because they can't actually see them happening. It's much easier to create a tiny wedding rp event, then put the time and effort into making something big beleivable. And I was told I had no imagination...

The big word I see here is race, that makes me unhappy, like I could be blamed for something my leaders do ? how about faction ;)

The word race might be in their but the conflicts aren't about race, they are about other issues. And of course you can be blamed for what your leaders do. Lets say you are a Matis and the leader of the Matis decide to block all water from getting to the desert. If you are a Matis and don't speak up against that and even try to stop it, then you are as much at fault as they are.
