higher rate/speed of harving means less mats?

I noticed that when i insert higher rate or speed stanza's in my action with the objective to pull more mats, i loose focus so fast that i end up with less mats.

Can someone explain to me why i would want to use anything higher than rate 4(ish)and speed 3(ish)? That seems to be the optimum for me when i use a carer.

Am i missing the point?

A high rate and speed are handy when you have the focus for it, it increases mats per pull and hence experience gained.

I must be missing the point cos thats what i am trying.

To increase rate and speed a notch i would need about 900 more focus to get the same! ammount of mats.. so.. again... y should i?

How many mats can u pull with a carer? I do 21 now and whatever i am trying.. i cant get more only less.. (dunno about xp tho but i dont really care about that atm)

You need alot more focus then, and to get that you'll need to invest in focus gear, such as focus jewels and light armor with focus enhancements. Might set you back a few dappers though.

Don't use source time, it's very inefficient. That will shave off a lot. Focus armor and jewels almost go without saying. Use harmful rate with mat spec. Start with a lower q and then switch to an action with a high q in the middle of the pull.

Ideally your focus will deplete just as the source depletes. If the source is depleting while you still have a lot of focus, use a stronger extraction action. If you are running out of focus before the source depletes, use less source time and a lower extraction credit. I find using maximum rate and keeping speed low is best.

If you have a dedicated careplanner, use all harmful actions. That alone should take care of your focus if you have decent gear.

Go find youself a nice q200+ focus soot and a q200+ focus jewel set.

Go do the rites! 2 in Yrkannis gives 50+ focus.

Also spend some of those harvest or craft sp towards focus attributes.

Doing the above will ensure that you'll always have enough focus.

but some focusjewels are best. Something else not mentioned is that you can get more digging lvls for focus.

May I ask zippo how much focus you do have? Also, what lvl harvester are you? Are you using a mat specialization as well as the terrain specialization? If so I personally have not noticed a difference so get rid of the mat spec. This will help as well.

It is a bugged rite that actually should be reported. There is no mission reqs, you just walk up to the ritegiver, you do the rite and receive 50 focus. Hmmmm, would that be an exploit then?
I have no idea what the context is cause the message is something like: <description mission>.
