You mean moderating messages that do not stay on thread topic then?

that too

but i just want to hear from them

one of the many reasons is that often when I or other peopel state an in game fact it is treated like opinion, but if a moderator ever said anything it would carry some weight

and yes most threads on this forum are horribly derailed

That's a curse word? Really? And I hear that the word for a type of carpet is also a big curse over there. Hahaha.

i kinda agree with u, in that it would be nice to see more posts from the mods, get to know them a bit, etc, etc. But there are lots of reasons why things might be as they are. for instance by not having a heavy handed mod presence then they encourage a more mature community that plays nicely and self regulates.

Firstly, apologies for the offtopic post :)

And I agree with the replies here - the mods certainly do their jobs (at least lawrence does anyway, since I only read this forum). Swearing has been removed or censored, entire threads have been deleted (not very often) because they were 100% useless. Generally these posts are just moved off-topic, which is a lighter way of dealing with them.

I also agree with the 'heavy handed' comment - sure, some threads have gone way off, and even turned into flat-out arguments. However, if every thread that even hinted at wandering was censored, I think your (and other people's) view of the mods would be completely opposite. i.e., "we can't voice our opinions", "we can't say anything negative at all".

It would be nice to think that these forums contain 100% positive and nice posts, but I really don't think that's possible, with any game. Even if a game is near-perfect in terms of cleanliness and freedom from bugs, there would still be some people who thought game mechanics were wrong, or something was flawed because it didn't work in the way *they* want it to. To use a well-worn phrase, Such is life(tm) :)

Oops.

Well, to use another well-worn phrase, So Sue Me(tm) :) Also you edited the title of the post at some time, and it now has a slightly different meaning to just 'moderators'.

So what information do you want the mods to post? Have to admit I'm missing the point there - what is it the mods know that they aren't posting?

the moderators are also the community liaisons right?

i want to hear from them on the issues!

i was hoping that they would throw in their own 2 cents on topics, at least occasionally, i have no doubt that they are moderating curse words and other things of no consequence...

from this thread http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.p ... ge=2&pp=10
I'd like to use the opportunity to explain a few things on how we deal with these things behind the scenes.

Some of our GM team's day-to-day tasks include investigating reports about Code Of Conduct and EULA violations - most commonly harrassment reports, flooding, spamming, or other types of inappropriate behaviour in public chatrooms inside or outside of the game.

Our team thoroughly investigates each of these reports and takes actions where appropriate. Please understand that we can not communicate about what kind of actions we take against a particular user, if any - That's confidential between us (the Company) and the user.

But rest assured that all reports we receive are taken serious and will be investigated by a member of our GM team as soon as possible.

As for the possible results of an investigation - All reports are dealt with on a case-by-case basis, which is why polls like this one are generally unsuitable to reflect what kind of decisions we make when coming across a violation. It always depends on various factors, such as the type and severeness of a specific violation, whether or not a user has previously been warned for violating the rules, etc.

Generally speaking, I would not rely on what you may have heard from other fellow players about what kind of penalty they claim to have received or not. Further I would not be using that information or rumour to assume that the GM team always takes the exact same action, or makes the same decision, because that's simply not going to be the case, as described above.

If you have any further questions regarding this topic, I'll be glad to answer to them. While we are of course forced to remain discreet to some level here, we have absolutely no problem with taking the time to explain our policies and procedures.
imo that's all that needed to be said in that thread by the mods.

Mmmm, I am getting the feeling you want to fratenize with the mods.
