I think this is a problem with the ATI drivers, ATI are known to have, lets say, "suboptimal" support for linux, at least compared to NVIDIA.
Someone else had some strange problems with ATI before, but that thread is lost after the merge... il see if can digg it up.

ehh, my bad, you can force Ryzom to run in either OGL or D3D mode. You can set that either from the config utility or in the file clients.cfg, look for a line that says:
Driver3D = "OpenGL";

The argument can either be "OpenGL" "D3D" or "Auto" if i remember correctly
you might what to try different settings...

Ok so its maybe cause of ATI :(
I was in OpenGL mode with this bug. Auto do the same and D3D doesn't work at all :(

Im not sure how the mobility circuits of ATI is. I have run Ryzom using cedega with both an radeon9700ppro (my old card) and now with a nvidia 6600gt.
the only problem i found was ati and opengl when ingame windows got blurry. though i think that that is more due to Ryzom. (ati is d3d and nvidia is opengl compliant so to say). yet both worked fine for me under Gentoo linux.

This problem might not be the ATi. But there are others to come. The game dies when you teleport (ATi 9600XT, Debain 2.6.7 and latest ATi drivers, latest cedega)

Try to have at least a dualboot on the notebook and play Ryzom on Windows.

The correct setting in clients.cfg for D3D is "Direct3D" :

Driver3D="Direct3D" should work...

There is also some entries in the cedega config file that you could try to play with, you find the config file in your_home_dir/.transmgaing/config,
in the section [d3dgl] there are some settings for VertexShaders / Pixel Shaders etc that might do somthing intersting :rolleyes: .
you might also add the following att the end of the cedega config, to force cedega to report as a win2k...

;; Ryzom
[AppDefaults\\ryzom_client_rd.exe\\version]
"Windows" = "win2k"

Hmm hadd another look at your pic of the problem, noticed that your running windowed, have you tried to run it in total standalone mode ?

i have a small shell script that does that you can pick it up Here you need to modify for your installation tough but it should be fairly easy :-)
