Suggestion to Xavier for New Q&A session

Post by vinnyq »

May I suggest a new QA format?

The alternating 'glimsp of production' & Q/A article idea is good, I think. To be honest, I enjoy reading the GOP with their screenshots much more so than the Q/A session, because most often, I don't even care about the questions being asked (though I respect that others do).

(case in point, a question to ask what the meaning of color of the numbers over player and mob heads make total sense, and I see that as a more logical question than why we get random numbers. I don't really care why, I am guessing it's a bug and I am pretty sure I am right :P )

Xavier, for the Q/A session, limit yourself to 1st 10 questions first come first serve basis. For example, the first 10 to get their questions in get answered, regardless of whether they're stupid, confusing, or can't be answered, and ignore the rest. That way we won't feel like you're selectively picking questions to avoid other.

You are ofcourse welcome to say "I don't know and can't find the answer to this", or "I don't understand this question but here's my guess to what you're asking", or "please reword and try again next round", etc. We will (probably) appreciate this more so than if you ignore the question completely.

We rather you do that and make us try to grab question slots then to make us think you're only picking questions you can answer easily.

(It'll also force us to think more about the questions we're asking so we don't ask needless questions and pay more attentions to our wordings :P )

Hope this make sense, I still appreciate your efforts, Xavier :) Especially the GOP articles.

p.s.

When Q/A rounds first started, I remember seeing some players post like 10 questions at once in the same post! That's insane! And I am sure overwhelming. This is not smart on our end, at all. Try putting yourself in his shoes.

Or heres a thought - answer all of questions?

I have read through the questions, but what is the alternative? If he has to pick and choose, I agree that answering sequentially is preferable, but why doesnt he answer them all, slowly, instead of having six sessions and answering 4 random ones each?

It is preferable to answer all of them from one session instead of having more sessions and leaving questions unanswered.

Mareel, have you read through any of the recent question threads, including all of the other servers too?

I would poke my eyes out with a stick if I have to do that.

No, he can't answer all, so to make it better he should only answer the ones he can answer. Some he isnt allowed to yet (breaching NDAs etc I'd assume on a lot) etc etc

Interesting results. Ah well, it was just a suggestion. I guess there're pro & cons to everything. This is why I love polls :)

Fyrx i updated my answerit is preferable to answer all from 1 question session rather than hold more question session leaving many unanswered.

If they are unanswerable he should say that instead of ignoring it.

That would be good. Take the first say 30 questions and I either answer them or tell us why you can't. Ignoring them if just frustrating.

Yeah what Xelir said.

I dont' mind answers like "I don't understand the question", "I won't answer this questions due soon to be released information" and even "We don't know but are looking into it".

Frankly after the first QA i'm yet to see any questions that are interesting to me. Not sure if we asked the qood questions first or we're asking the questions in the "too difficult" basket later.

The question/answer situation with the random, floating, coloured numbers thing was a bit if a joke i must say. Kind a like chinese whispers I guess.
