Clans and governments, eh?

Post by golden7 »

From http://www.ryzom.com/?page=game_philosophy

"The Saga of Ryzom will now take you beyond these limits to clans (group of guilds) and even in governments. When you finally get there, you will discover another game within the game. A game of power that no other game could even touch. "

The envisioned endgame of Ryzom--POLITICS!! ?

Discuss.

I always had the idea we should be able to create banks and loan out dappers. :( And charge interest....and if they can't pay, their soul is yours. >.>

That almost looks like it is an in-browser text-based game though. I can't really tell as I can't read a word of it or anything ;P That is just the impression I got from the few images I saw

Lots of MUDs have player government of one sort or another. But none of them have the scale, scope, or budget of Ryzom.

Government? Bureaucracy and red tape. Lawyers. Accountants. Taxes?
Do we really want this in Ryzom? I have enough of this in RL thanks. ;)

Seriously though, I'll take any new content. LOL :D

IMHO every game that allows players to possess something that can be taken from him by force involves politics. Every game where groups compete for something does as well. A government is just an institution introduced by certain kinds of politics.

This quote:
"When I play an MMORPG, what I want is to live in another world where I can have a true presence, and be part of an ongoing action in which I have a role."
From: http://www.ryzom.com/?page=game_philosophy

Sums up why I play Ryzom.
