Guides on Arispotle

As you know Windameer didn't have any guides, so it was an added blessing from the merge that US players can be on an Atys that do allow for them.

Except,

I don't really know much about them. What can they do? Where can I find a list of all the guides on Arispotle? Do they also play the game as players or do they just run events? Does the /who GM also bring up guides? Do they have title in game so that you can tell they are guides? How about on the forum?

I've done a /who GM and guides have popped up, as for what they do, i think they give technical help on a larger scale than GM's, gm's are mostly for the actually game issues. I think. (???)

A /who gm will bring up a list of guides and GMs who are currently logged in.
As far as I know, guides are players also. Most MMOs that i know of use players for their guide equivalent CSRs.

As for what they can do, well I'm not sure.

They do have a title and shiny staffs. So they're pretty easy to spot.

As far as I know, from others' posts, guides aren't allowed to post on the forums though.

I've never seen a full list of the who's who of the CSR team.

Windermeer did have guides, there were a few issues involved (see posts in the old NA forums and fadin replies) but they were there. For example, Hesperos was assisting Takashi during the cerimony of the "Masters of Atys", for the players that reached lvl 250 in a skill.

I didnt think Takashi and Cerest and gangs were "guides". They were more of the CSR team and in the paid of Nevrax. They are actual GMs and "employees" of Nevrax, was what I thought.

I am under the impression that guides were just players who volunteered?

And I am also under the impression that "official" CSR team members, e.g. Lawrence, are not allow to play the game as a player with their char.

i can't answer that but i can see how they wouldn't be allowed to play as their gm char cause that would be a bit unfair to the players

Ah I see you meant Hesperos was a guide. I didn't know that. No one tell me these things!

Our Guides are players who volunteer some of their time answering ingame support questions and helping out in events. They man the live support in Klients as well as in game. This helps to free up GMs for issues such as conflict resolution and for behind the scenes work such as out of game tech support and planning. We would not be able to offer the high level of support that we do without the tireless efforts of our volunteers. They are an integral part of the support team and their work is greatly appreciated by all.
