This is the second time this issue has happened to me! First at beta when i downloaded the install file for the beta. It froze my computer totally when i just even pressed it, deleting the file or even installing it did not happen. THen it happened again yesterday when i downloaded the 14 day trail, the same thing happens. I cant install it, delete it or even press the file without freezing the computer!
I couldnt see any sticky posts about this problem so it must not happen that often. BUt if anyone knows how to fix this problem i would love to know how!!
Thanks
Whats wrong with the install file?
Re: Whats wrong with the install file?
Could be a hidden 'pop up window', like 'Use Open GL with this graphics card?'moonlene wrote:This is the second time this issue has happened to me! Use Alt+tab to check.
Also try configuring the game to 'windowed' mode and see if that helps. You can switch to full screen later once everything is installed.
Re: Whats wrong with the install file?
So this happens when you double-click the file? Or does single-clicking (selecting) also cause these lock-ups?
I don't remember what the install file looks like - is it just one big file? If it is (and especially if it's a Zip file) and you have anti-virus software installed, the apparent lock-up could be caused by auto-scanning - clever AV software scans files inside zipped archives, in this case it will have a lot of files to check.
During installation, it may be worth disabling your AV software. Just remember to turn it back on if you do

You need to be connected to the internet as the game 'patches' and checks on install.
Also are you installing to a different location to 'c:\program files\ryzom' ?
This caused me probs, if I remember correctly.

That should be fine mate - all my games are under c:\games\, and Ryzom is OK with that. (I don't like to class my games as programs, it's a very business-like term

Re: Whats wrong with the install file?
And it's just that file? Very strange... I'd go with the advice of making sure any antivirus software is disabled and redownload if possible. Other than that really not much that can be offered, the issue seems to be a computer problem @_@
Re: Whats wrong with the install file?
ok i'll try that
