Had few times same problems (with other applications).
2 times problem was HDD.
1 time - RAM
Perform test for RAM u can using memtest, HDD - look on manufacturer website for testing utilities.
Btw, no problems with other freq. used apps or OS?

I can only agree with booster.. I've had same problem with fauly RAM and I used memtest from here http://www.memtest86.com/ and it found the block of RAM which was causing the hickups (test your RAM one block at a time)

As for the HDD test, you'll need to visit the website of the brand of your HDD.

I've had a similar problem as you earlier, and that was caused by a single block of RAM with I also have had in my system for more than a year (without any problems), and then one day, my system was acting weird.

Also... did you read this thread? http://ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13625 (look what might be a solution at buttom)

If you reinstaled it seems to me that your HDD have some bad sectors. Try uninstal game, use a HDD check utility to mark the bad sectors and reinstal the game again. But if the HDD has started to broke, you should think at a replacement.

I wouldnt recomend you using a utility that runs in windows, as other issues might make your computer unstable (thus not proving wether or not its your RAM causing errors). I think Memtest86 (running in a clean DOS environment) is the best way to test memory.

(to all the linux/unix/*nix geeks out there... Im only used to the microsoft world, sadly)
