What would you do....???????

Here's a hypothetical question that I think is worthy of the game Scruples. I know what I'd do, but thought I'd like to hear from the Ryzom community to see if I hold a minority view.

Player A falls out with player B. As a result player B knows that player A will not res him. It is impossible to determine the facts of the dispute and judge whether either party may be considered right or wrong. It is not known whether player B likewise refuses to res player A.

Player B teams with player C who is not aware of the dispute at all.

Player A sees the team.

Player C asks in Region Chat for a res as they are both down. Player A could pretend not to have seen the request. However, he feels he has to walk to player C's body & say something like - "Sorry, I'd like to help you but I won't res player B & if I res you then you will res player B".

(Player C doesn't really worry about DP as such - it only takes 10 minutes to clear & worse things happen at sea.)

What is a reasonable response from player C (maybe more than one in the list is possible) :-

1. Something other than, or additional to, the following points (if so, what?).

2. Pretend it never happened & carry on as before.

3. Tell player B you will never team with him again since it means you don't get a res from A.

4. Tell player A you have done 3.

5. Tell player A you will never res them in future.

6. Tell player A you will never team with them again.

7. In a teaming situation tell other team members they have to make a choice between having you or player A in the team but not both of you.

8. Tell players A & B that you never want anything to do with either of them again.

9. Tell player A that if you ever see them in a PVP zone you will be attacking them (it's irrelevant for the purposes of this question who would win).

10. DON'T tell player A, just attack if you see them in PVP. After all, you wern't aware of the 'no res' policy until after the event. So why should you bother to pre-warn them of a PVP attack.

11. Tell as many people as possible what happened, both in game and across the BB, naming names to shame those you think should be ashamed.

Don't forget, these are only options, I haven't said what I think is appropriate - at least, not yet.

Oh, and here's the kicker; re-read the post and for 'Player A' substitute 'Player A and their guild'. Is your response still the same. Bear in mind that your response could now affect guild menbers who, like you, know nothing of the original dispute, but have just been told "Our Guild will not res player B'.

Hope this gets some interesting responses (not any sort of flame war).

Player C should have as little to do as possible with both Players A and B and find some grown up players.

Personally the Aedans Artisans leadership would not issue such a missive and if they did most players would ignore it.

I would stay out of the whole dispute, and ask someone else for a rez. If I couldn't get one, I'd respawn and clear my DP with player B. It's really just a game you know

I would just ignore it and move on. Pick your battles. Trying to retaliate would probably just add fuel to the fire and alienate potential friends.

I never team with people that could have a dispute with someone else.

Besides of that I never expect anyone to rez me. If they do fine, if they don't no matter either. So despute or not, if I let my team die its my own damn fault and I have to live with it.

Point 2 - what goes around comes around. Or in other words, they'll meet their end eventually, you don't need to arrange a time or threaten PvP - players who behave like player C are destined for hardship eventually.

In addition, I would add my own twist by rezzing player C in future. Before I did it, I'd lay on some 'well well, look who's chewing dirt and needs some help'. If they didn't respawn straight away, I'd rez them and walk off without further comment It either changes their opinions, or it achieves nothing except the opportunity to gloat for a moment.

Ow come on, this is just a game...
I liked the one about finding more mature people to team with.

This kind of posts are made mostly to bolster one's opinion about not rezzing a certain player or to find justification because some guild wont rez the player.

This sounds in no way like any innocent poll, this smells very fishy. In the end, any playing finding himself in a dispute that will trigger a no-rez from anyone else (either guilds or players) should consider lvl'ing some social skills. In situations like that, everyone is behaving like an arse anyway...

I would tell player A that his actions and attitude will move him to my no-rez list (maybe a list with only player A...).

If he would be on my no-rez list, I would not rez him in future, but I would not extend this to his team members (even if they can rez person A after they have been rezzed).

In case I would have had repeated bad experiences (e.g. killl stealing) with person's A guild and those issues remain unsolved, I might not rez person A's team if it consists only of same guild.

I wouldn't keep issues secret, but I might contact guild officials if problem seems to escalate.

Frydes, you could be right. Or, the poll was intended to make people who behave as described think about their actions. I'd like to think the latter, but yes, I guess you're right
