Ryzom will not load...

Hi all,

I have Ryzom installed at home & work. At home it runs fine but the problem im having is at work.

When I double click on the Client_ryzom.exe file, nothing happens, there is a process in task manager called Client_ryzom_rd.exe running and using 9.7mb memory but Ryzom is not running.

I tried removing Ryzom and installing it again, It actually loaded the first time and then downloaded/installed all the updates and then the client reboots but this is where it just stops loading.

I have tried reinstalling windows, same thing still happens.

It used to work before Chapter2 became live.

System:
Intel Pentium4 1.8ghz
512mb DDR Ram
Geforce MX440 128mb

Any help wold be appreciated.

Ok, further info to my problem.

After clicking on the Ryzom Client loader, it took 49 minutes for it to load, so it does work but having to wait that long is just stupid.

Check you DirectX version and internet connection?

Are you by any chance using Norton Internet Security?
I had a similar problem, despite having ryzom excluded in the firewall it still blocked the program. I had to disable internet security while the game booted. After that re-enabled and it worked fine.
I use the past tense as I have now given up on the totally annoying and bug ridden internet security.

Just to let everyone know, im still having this problem at work

Heres a few more details:

My Computer is on a Network at work, and im running windows XP.

* I can load Ryzom fine when logged in on a local Administrator account.

* Ryzom will not load on a Network account With no Admin rights on the local machine.

* Ryzom will not load on a Network account with Admin rights on the local machine.

Can any of the developers just confirm that users must be logged on the machine locally to play Ryzom or are Network accounts suppost to work aswell?

Hmm, maybe a registry problem?

Do you know about the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER branches, and how they work? This is what I've picked up over the years, could be slightly off the mark tho...

This could be the old 'install for all users or install for current user' problem. If Ryzom was installed using a non-admin account, the registry changes may only have been made to the registry for that user. In theory, this means that when an admin user logs in to that machine, the Ryzom registry keys aren't copied from HKLM to HKEY_CURRENT_USER - if they don't exist in HKEY_CURRENT_USER while a given user is logged on, Ryzom may have problems.

The same should apply if an admin account installs a program, and chooses to install only for the current user - any other users logging in would not receive a copy of the Ryzom branch from HKLM.

Hmmm, does that make sense? I'm not sure I explained it very well...

I understand what your saying, im in the middle of an MCSE course at the mo. Weird thing is tho, I installed Ryzom on a Network account with admin rights.

When I install ryzom from the original CD, it loads up fine, then I login and it starts downloading all the updates to the lastest version, once this is done the clients restarts and this is where is stalls.

Something is changed in one of the updates from retail, stopping me from loading ryzom using network accounts.

Ah That's a strange problem, and it does sound like an update that's broken it. I don't have a working network at home atm, or I'd try the same thing out.
