Transgender Play No. 2

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

Why do you play a character of the opposite gender?

Something nice to look at while I'm playing.

The days of being a man and having to prove it, should be long gone.

Wasnt it in American Pie 2, that this pipesmoking guy is accused of being gay, he says: "I am perfectly in contact with my inner sexuality. I am not afraid to be gay, therefor I am not."

Hiya Fyrx... I just respond to people according to their Atys gender, without fretting the details... but your mileage and comfort level may vary :)

I think it helps that I don't actively flirt with anyone, or encourage anyone to flirt with me... with the exception of those rare instances when I happen to know a good bit about the human behind the homin, and am genuinely attracted to both.

I like to think of this as a massively multiplayer online role playing game. Therefore I treat the toons exactly as they appear. I must say this does seem to upset some guys who thought playing a girls was just a good way to get people to go easy on you.

Girl toons are treated like girls.
Guy toons are treated like guys.

Perhaps it's an old pen and paper roleplaying habit.

For a lark, try looking up the terms "anima" and "animus."

That may give some of you folks an idea of what you may be playing around with.

I could see how talking to a female character who is a guy could get kind of weird

EXCEPT

Most of the time (in real life and in game) there are reasons for a guy to be talking to a girl aside from trying to hit on or have sex with her. I know there are plenty of other 19 year old guys who don't believe me but it's true.

In game, I just assume that I'm talking to people (and with the exception of any bots I think that's a 100% safe assumption).

For role play purposes, I would act in whatever way seemed most appropriate for my character and for other characters involved in the role play situation.

I tried playing as a male character in EnB but felt it didn't "fit right" for some odd reason. All my SoR alts are female, both regular server and ATS.

lol, so true, you often recognise a male irl playing a female ingame by the incredible size of his breasts ;-)
