also, I like to know how one suppose to act toward a player who is female but you know is male, or vice versa.

Do you often find yourself calling that player she, then switched to he, then back to she at random? Does this make you feel weird? Does these 'shim' players disturb you? Do you just automatically assume that all toons are guys until they sey 'hugz'? I really want to know!

In roleplay .... its easy you play the role! If others see you as 'weird' or as having a problem with it ..... I my opinion its them that is insecure in there feelings. (I have been beat up IRL for saying this so no here is going to scare me).

My opinion is if you are secure in your feelings about gender, then you have nothing to fear.

The days of being a man and having to prove it, should be long gone.

Drinking 10 pints, doesn't make you a man, along with all the other stero-types.

However I know they arn't cas a real life friend of mine, just couldn't handle the fact that roleplay is just playing a role. When I continued to flirt in character with players who have chosen to roleplay a different gender, he told me he thought it was wierd, I thought it strange that he could see that the two imaginary characters were taking part in a play.

I create loads of alts, just to try out different looks and styles in both sexes. In practise I probably create slightly more female than male characters (maybe 60:40 ratio in favour of the females), but when it comes to selecting which character to play at any time, I do have a tendancy to select the pretty ones!

That hugz statment was in jest, in case someone really took an offense.

But really, what I meant by 'weird' was, as in *you* feel weird for having that gender switch inside your own head of the other player, even with already knowing that player is a "guy behind the girl", if you will.

As in, you met a char, and it's a female toon, and you assigned a 'female' voice to that toon when she talked to you, and then knowing that he is actually a burly guy later, you still hear the female voice. Isn't that just weird? (Not the other player is 'weird', but that you feel weird for switching a 'she' and a 'he' in midsentence when referring to him/her, thinking about him/her. Or when talking about her with some other players). It gets confusing!

Or is that just me?

Just to add some more to the conversation, and considering im a male playing a male char, i got to admit its kinda weird to play with female chars played by men. I mean, besides the graphical sexyness of those chars (they don't try to make them ugly you know...), sometimes there are actions which on screen appear kinda kinky - e.g.: foraging with a cute girltoon can bring into action some awkward situations... (for something my wife doesnt like me to harvest with a female char healer lololol)

And more than that, there is the brain pattern to worry about: I for one get quite confused to chat to guy that has a girl toon, mainly if there is already some kind of friendship.. (main example for this is when i say to my wife - who also plays - "Going to fetch some grind mats for ---- (insert ingame name here) and i think of the char as a female, but when i talk to the person behind the screen i say "Hey m8" and we say OBA OBA at the cute zorai girls... LOLOL

Good to get all this kinda stuff out in the open tho, maybe we can change the worlds atitudes a little, and people will become more confident and secure. Tolerance of others can only be a good thing. Exploring how it feels to be someone else or something else is an enlightening experience.

Seriously i stated something in Transgender Play No. 1.

The main reason is probably that i don't like the male look in most games ( and Ryzom count as well ). I playd rarely male characters, only when i wanted to make a rude Character with a decisive charismatic power.

Never pretended to be a real girl anyway, and neither i ever tried to get gifts and such for the beautifulnes of my character.

I'm a bit sad that some peoples get offended when i tell them that i'm guy IRL
