Need some info on the "Bleeding" stanza

Post by Lukati »

Since I hit 100 in 1h melee, I've decided to go for Slashing, since 1h pikes are virtually non-existant. Well, I have some SP laying around and was wondering if Bleeding is worth investing in.

I apologize in advance if this has been explained in a previous thread. I've searched the forums and couldn't find much of anything regarding this stanza, so if anyone can either explain to me the workings behind Bleeding, or even point me in the direction of where it might be explained, I'd appreciate it. :)

I tend to throw in a bleed attack in the middle of the fight and at the end to get those extra hp from the mob when I fight alone, but in a group I never use it.
Imo I think they should tweak this stanza a bit as it is now (imo) a bit too weak compared to the credit cost.

GO FOR PIKES!!! It has been debated that in PvP conflict melee slashers and smashers are nothing compared to piercers! I havent yet tested this theory but if there are any 250 pikemen out there willing to go head to head on a 250 swordsman with boss armour pm me!

This is due to the ignore armour stanza if you are wondering.

I have yet to see any real benefit from bleeding- my attack is just max damage and max accuracy that i can afford to use.

I have also heard that the slow stanza is rubbish- but dont take my word on that!

I have a permanent action that incorporates the bleeding stanza. I use in the action Increase Damage Attack in combo with Bleeding. A sucessful attack with the above action will usually results in Max hit on the mob, and the bleeding portion will both slow the mob for the duration of the bleeding and cause damage (damage amount is culminated and added at END of bleeding period; the slow is immediate and during the bleeding period). The duration of the bleeding is variable, and I believe is dependent upon what your level is, the level of your weapon, and what level the mob is - probably works much like a linking spell.

The bleeding stanza losing efectiveness as group size goes, because bleeding works too slow for quick mob kills, but it has the potential to increase your DPS far beyond what any other weapon can do.
damage per second is always the most important thing for a fighter right?

i never heard or saw anythign about bleeding slowing the mob, but ive brought a mob to half of its life life and stood there and watch it die within 10 seconds a number of times just cause its funny

HOWEVER, veyr often I've noticed that bleeding can continue to cause damage 60-100 seconds after the damage is done

also ive seen bleeding continue for minutes against other players, its weird

base damage per second for all two handed weapons is the same but sometimes seems different because of different map requirements + availability

a 250 pikeman does have the same accuracy as a 250 swordsman, what can own up is that you can add ignore armor to the pike and thus achieve consistent damage against all mob types. Consistency makes games more manageable and often more fun. the randomness of mob resistance to slash can be frustrating sometimes

sinful i dont mean to call you a loser but you are a loser for pointing that out.
i said it as the potential to have the highest dps, if the mob has less than 25% resistance then it can definitely be more effective we cant do the math precisely because it doesnt tell you how much damage it is taking off of the mob

I disagree due to mob resistance to damage pike can far outshine other forms of damage in many situations. Lets take for example pierce+ignore vs slash+bleed.

Assume mob has 75% physical damage resistance to all froms of mele damage.

Say both weapons are 500 max damage and 30 hpm for ease of calculations. Lets also assume both weapons are hitting for max damage and use their respective dam bricks and ignore/bleed bricks.

Piker will do 1000 damage per hit and 30 hits in one minute is 30000. Or 500 damage per second.

Slasher will do 250 damage + bleed (unknown) and 30 hits in one minute without the bleed is 7500. Or 125 damage per second without bleed.

Since the exact bleed numbers are unknown (all we do know is that bleed is a factor of base weapon damage [i.e. no dam brick]) all we can say is that bleed will need to do 3 times the 750 damage per hit or 375 bleed damage per second to match the pike.

We all know that bleed does not meet those damage numbers and actually does far less. So the clear winner of Damage over time goes to the piker in this situation.

Lastly as for bleed slowing the enemy it does not. However I did ntoice that the writer of that was mentioning he does max damage. He may mistakenly be doing critical hits causing malus and just assumed it was coming from the bleed brick.

No stats are available for my opinion & if there was I probably wouldn't understand them.

I use bleed with circular attack for those awkward moments when you get surrounded by half a dozen gingos whilst digging in your pyjamas. I usually survive but sorry no stats for comparison. Please feel free to introduce some on circ attacks + bleed.

Circle attacks are even more complicated since your damage is somewhat reduced per number of enemies. But then again most peopel reserve circle for a bunch of wimpy enemies and you should be killing them fast to begin with.

I would not use circle with bleed because you always should be using increase damage and AA unless the creatures are wimpy(can ignore AA), in which case bleed is ineffective due to short battle.

Bleed is pretty useless right now.

Needs beefing up.

I use bleed with every attack on my 2hd sword. No doubt pike is going to be more effective on a 50 - 75 % resistant mobs as my guess is bleed adds 20% to 35% to DPS. That being the case I simply don't fight resistant mobs...and i'm leveling up magic and pike for when I have to. :P

Overall I don't think i've been slowed in lvling because I use a sword as there are more than enough mobs to solo or group fight that aren't resistant. And i've beat pikers in duels...when bleed lands regularly.
