When I teleport into a town, particularly Natae where I keep my packers, I get a "Please Wait" box and the server goes into the "probe" state and does not come out. This occurs literally everytime I TP into Natae, and with alarming frequency in other towns, but does not seem to occur when I TP into Zora towns...which does not make much sense.
Technical support recommended a few things all of which I did and it did not resolve the problem, including:
1) Upgrading from 512 MB to 1 Gig Ram
2) Updating grahics card/ server card drivers
3) Removing Windows firewall and installing ZoneAlarm pro firewall
4) Turning off all anti-virus protection for ryzom
5) Resetting cable-modem when it goes into probe
6) Hitting my computer with head-- hard enough to cause scalp bruises
Does anyone else get the "please wait" and get hung up whenever they teleport. This glitch has made my Ryzom experience less enjoyable by far, everytime I want to go craft something or get something from my packers or meet someone at the stables I know the inevitable-- I will have to relog after I teleport, which takes about 10 minutes. This problem did not used to occur when I first started playing but seems to have become more frequent as time went on, and now I hang on virtually any town teleport--it seems to be related to the number of people in the region, teleports to places with few people do not cause problems, TPing to any matis town causes the hang. Any net savvy suggestions would be much appreciated; I am polishing my gun right now and don't want to have to do anything too drastic.

Re: Server Probe Status on Teleporting into Town
Try defrag. Doesn't cost anything to try. Rationale:
- Ryzom network code might be delayed too long because of loading time and that will cause some unexpected network error and connection recovery does not work
- problem has been occuring more and more frequently as drive gets fragmented over time
- ryzom fragments disk heavily for me at least
- Happens in some places as some parts of disk are more fragmented
It is a longshot, but worth a try.

I had the same problem, but it is as good as gone since i switched to fullscreen.. Now when it happens, i just alt-tab away for 5 seconds and when I return it is reconnected again (synchronisation system activates after re-focus on client).

Re: Server Probe Status on Teleporting into Town
My wife and I have both experienced this. The location seems to be random, but it happens to me more when going through portals and her more when coming out of her apartment.
Yesterday I was standing outside her apartment in Yrk waiting for her to come out. When the load screen on her system went away, she appeared to be standing outside her apartment with a please wait box up. Bringing up the network window shows a ping of over 25K and status of Probing. On my system, I never saw her appear. In most cases where you get the normal please wait box while entering a new zone, the people in that zone see you appear right as your load screen is going away. This is not the case when you recieve the Probing error. Your client thinks you have made it to your destination, but the server does not.
I hope this information will help in the investigation of this problem. My guess is that it is happening more often that the devs think, as most people probably just think it is a connection problem and relog.

GM Zerlin has posted what seems to be the solution for this problem.

Nope.. I use a hardware firewall that has never caused any problems. This problem didn't arise until after the move from Windermeer. I have had SP2 installed with the software firewall disabled since long before I started playing Ryzom. They need to look at their code and quit trying to blame other hardware and software.
BTW, I never installed SP2 on my wife's system and she has the same problem.
The Solution !
This is the original poster again, and I think I found a solution to the problem. When running Ryzom in windowed mode I minimize the window, the restore it. For some reason restoring the windowed Ryzom causes it to snap out of the probe state. This is similar to what Kaetami proposed to thank you. Anyone who has had this same issue try the minimize/restore trick and please report if it works for you. Thanks

Re: Server Probe Status on Teleporting into Town
cww55 the problem could be arising from the path taken by your ISP from NA to the UK. There are definite differences depending on ISPs. Do a ping plot or tracert to see if there are any problems at any point along the network path from your location to 213.208.119.98. If you see anything out of the ordinary please email a copy of the report to mailto: ? subject= & body= and we will get the network crew to pursue it.
