I don't think that is why the Karavan don't want homins down there. The Karavan are terrified of homins learning of the past. There are many things in the roots that relate to the history of homins, including the "dragon". That is why they don't want homins in the roots, fear of them discovering something.kibsword wrote:That could be why the karavan dont want us in the roots, because if we kill the kitin then Atys dies too...
As for my allegiences, I used to be 100% pro-karavan, but recently I have seen that neither side is black or white, while I respect both (the karavan more) I do not fully trust them...

The truth is, we dont know the truth. But we have nothing to do but trust the kami and karavan for now.

Re: Where do THEY stand?
Although i am pro-Kami, and a bit distrustfull of karavan presence, i do not think they are trying to cover something up. Actually i believe the karavan have something to do with the "ship" i saw on some screenies... if it was theirs or not i do not know, but it really looked like related to them. Nevertheless if the Karavan wanted to do something to homins it would be easy, instead they still share secrets and try to welcome us into their comunity. Even so, and while i am on Atys, i bow to the Kami, for this is their land.raynes wrote: That is why they don't want homins in the roots, fear of them discovering something.

As a tryker Im supposed to like the Karavan. However since I've never seen any of their faces, and since they seem to be holding outing on their technology (1). I'm having some trouble trusting them. Also I'm wondering where other homins, the ones that enter the "beams of light" and disappeared, are (2).
On the other hand the Kami are know to lure mobs on harvests if they dig too much (3). The following quote worries me since we upset the balance by mining and trying to kill all the kittins. We may be at war with the kittins, but they are part of food web of Atys.
"They share a collective conscience and it would seem that no living species may escape their perception, and consequently, their wrath if their laws of conservation are transgressed."
quote from http://www.ryzom.com/?page=lore_higher_kami
(1) By technology I mean like their ships, which could help during a kitten invasion, if they can spear them.
Their metal works seems much more avandanced and the helmets they use could allow us to explore underwater.
(2) I read that somewhere on the ryzom homepage, not sure where though.
(3) If the Kami tolerance bar gets to lows mobs are lured there.

Re: Where do THEY stand?
The Kami warn homins when their mining gets to the point of causing Atys harm. That is when homins mine stuff to the point of it not being able to replenish itself. They will only attack you if you do not listen to their warnings. Don't strip mine, don't try to hurt Atys and you won't have a problem.sunew wrote:As a tryker Im supposed to like the Karavan. What makes you think you have seen Kami faces ? They appear differently in every region, but biased towards a homins perception of 'cuteness' ( not the tryker primitive 'cute'

My personal opinion is that the Kami are secretly behind all the problems afflicting Atys, and are laughing at the stupid gullible Homins. You can actually hear them chuckling if you sit near a teleport altar. They are Gingos in care-bear costumes.
Those Homins who lack the judgement to see this are to be pitied, not reviled, for while I dispute the Kamis good intentions I cannot dispute their cunning and power..
You may mock my warning, but take a minute to think.. who is laughing behind you...
Re: Where do THEY stand?
What i find odd is that the 2 factions trust us!
We can be neutral as long as we want to then join a faction (so to speak) Or start of loyaly in a faction then do a little work for the other side as and when we see fit.
If i wavier between the two factions and stay neutral both will still continue to give me work. If I gain the trust of one side i can still get noticed by the opposing one.
I like to view myself as a Hominist Kami aligned Zorai. I work to aid all races but stay true to the Kami teachings of my parents. This could be a walking contradiction as the races seem to be very tied to a faction. If i work for the Tryker welcomer for example i gain Karavan fame. Does this mean iam working for the Karavan when i help the Tryker? Can we ever be friends?
Is it meant to be this vauge?

Yesterday was first time that i could see the red light hovering over the Zorai ruins below the Goo fields.
I do really think that it is *not* Kami vs. Karavan. It is even *not* Kitin vs. Homin. It is all much more multifaceted. Probably something like one can see in the movie "Final Fantasy".
We have four races but only three native tribes. Cutes, Frahar and Gibbai. I really miss one !? Although there are Gibbai in Matis i always have the feeling they do not belong there. Also Kamis in Matis have the same apperance then in Tryker. What is wrong with Matis ?

Source: http://ryzom.com/?page=lore_races_matis_civilizaHistory In Brief
Early Matis tribes, settling around the wooded region of Matia, came together to form a community headed by tribe leaders. But decision making was slow and quarrelsome leading to discontent among the people. Soon the physically imposing and charismatic leader, Zachini, emerged rallying enough support from prominent community members to step forward as sole leader. The monarchy was born.
It was under Zachini rule that the momos, primitive tribes, were hunted to extermination under the pretext that the inferior creatures menaced the living space of the Matis peoples. The Matis quickly extended their dominions to the extremities of the forest lands where they were kept in check by the Fyros whose audacious emperor, Dyros the Great, secured a water route from the lake lands to the desert through Matis territory. This 'intrusion' on Matis territory triggered the start of the war of civilizations.
The intermittent skirmishes went on for over two hundred years coming to a head with the Fire of Coriolis. The great inferno spread across Fyros wastelands preventing Fyros reinforcements from rallying to the defence of outposts positioned along the water route. The Matis king, Aniro III, took advantage of the diversion created by the fire to send in his armies to isolate and capture the Fyros military outposts. They were then able to overrun the lake lands of the Trykers who consequently fell into Matis slavery. But Matis domination was short lived as Fyros reprisals and Tryker rebellion soon made the aristocratic warriors resort back to a defensive strategy to retain their former dominions of before the conflagration.
Another incident some two generations later led the Matis to enact a similar scenario. The great swarming of kitins that first hit Fyros lands allowed the Matis to again take possession of the water route and rout Fyros garrisons. Again their demise was as quick as their ascension as kitin armies piled through Matis dominions in waves eradicating all traces of hominkind in their path.
- The Matis use the Kami as energyMatisian Mythology :
Germination The Great Mentor was there, at the center of it all, when he shook himself from his reveries. A maelstrom of matter filled the space all around him engendering a nameless chaos. So, the Great Mentor gave birth to the void in order to have some room to think. Then he attributed a cycle of life to all matter, so that it would last only the time of its usefulness. He then destroyed the dangerous matter and tossed it into the void in order to commence his greatest masterpiece : the Universe.
The Great Mentor condensed the matter to mold the planets, his Celestial Seed. He then set them apart from each other with the void, to keep them from cross-breeding. The Mentor then set the impure matter ablaze in order to illuminate his masterpiece. This burning matter, which continues to expand unpredictably and regenerate permanently, has formed the stars.
Purpose
The design of the Great Mentor was written into his things from the beginning. He was there to ordinate the universe. All things in the universe must know their place, and reflect the genius of their Maker. All matter must obey the rules of the Mentor or rejoin the void.
The Chosen People
The Great Mentor needed scholars and technicians to assist him in his task of ordering the world. Each and every particle of the universe has a function. Matter must bend to the law of the Mentor or be evacuated to the Void. The Great Mentor needed helpers at the level of the planets to continue and perfect his masterpiece down to the smallest detail. He created the Matis in his image and imparted them his genius to create and ordinate-to bend the forces of Nature to their will.
The Kamis
The asteroids and satellites that orbit the planets are made of what is now one of Atys' rarest resources, Black Shoots. They were stationed there by the great Mentor to oversee the growth of the planets. The Matis draw a form of pure energy from the custodians, which enable them to tame matter. This energy has a conscience and was called, Kami.

So maybe even natives and Kami are connected somehow. Because Matis has no spezial looking Kamis. They look like "borrowed" from Tryker du to lack of own ones.
