April 6, 2005 : Merge between Windermeer and Arispotle successful !
Just a quick note to inform you that the main and toughest part of the merge between the Artispotle and Windermeer shards, performed on Monday, was successful. The highly critical operations needed for the shard merge kept the system engineers busy for 19 hours, and the few glitches that occured were quickly fixed. Now, 24 hours after the reopening, we can confirm you that everything is running fine. Tomorrow afternoon, between 12 am and 2 pm (Paris time), there will be a quick patch to add the final touch such as honorific titles for the characters who originated from Windermeer. Thank you for your support !
what about adding some title for the people who already were in arispotle? we were waiting for the re-opening of the server too during the merge, lol :p

Seems like a fair request to me.

The title that all Windermeer people are going to be given isn't given to them because they were waiting, it's so they can distinguish between Windermeer and Arispotle natives. At any rate, it would be fair to give all Arispotle natives a custom title as well.

I personally would rather not have these titles at all, on either side.

So far, the general tone has been that the NA players are being welcomed into the EE world. If you look at it from a RL perspective, that's certainly true. They're copying the player and guild data from the NA database into the database that's been holding the Aripostle data.

However, from an in-game perspective, it's exactly the same for NA players as it is for EE players. We're going to log in one day and be in the same Fairhaven, same Prime Roots, same Ayts and all of the sudden there's all these new people. When you look at it from an IG perspective, the EE players are as much new arrivals in the world we've been playing in as the NA players are in the world they've been playing in.

I don't say this to cause bad feelings. So far, there seems to have been nothing but good will from players from both of the original communities.

I guess I just rather take the stance that all of us (NA and EE) are players in a new, better, larger community, not that one side is joining the other's community.

I doubt I'd use the custom Windermeer title, but it seems that more people want them than don't. At least, that's the only reason I can come up with. Windermeer pride, I suppose. I'm with you Aylwyne, but the titles are coming nevertheless :) Might as well give out titles across the board.

I totally agree, when I logged in that night i think it was as much as a change for me as players from Windermeer. What they should have done is changed the name of the server to something new, it was a merge after all.
No need then for ppl to worry about server tags.

Exactly, we're all Homins together. Who cares which server you came from?

I really do think these titles are totally pointless.
