New additional info from the Lore.

My Karavan Guardian - told by Nina Tinaro, an old Matis Lady

A Karavan Guardian, wounded in the arm, jumped out of the vessel and fired into the eyes of the stunned creatures who were still fumbling to reach us. The Guardian gave us some fresh seed to revive our spirits and signaled to us to follow him into the vessel before the main kitin force was upon our heels.

Now, to me that either means....

a) He revived them (rezzed) or
b) He healed them with something.

Now, this is where it gets a little fuzzy. Could be he injected them with something, could be he handed them something but it definately doesn't sound like he used magic. So they have a method of healing that we don't know. It also sounds like the old lady new exactly what was given, so why don't we? Has this information not been passed down to us? Ahh, more questions for me to ponder while I can't play.

Tryker Mythology :

Atys is a giant Seed inhabited by Sylves, Dryades and Mandragores. She emerged from the terrarium of the Universe after a long immersion. Filled with gas, Atys floats in the blackened sky that fills the immense Universe. Purpose The Seed is the fruit of a great tree that perished in times long forgotten. The planets and the stars are Seeds floating in the Universe. One of these seeds will engender a new Tree. Some who have tried to reproduce the Seed have spawned new shoots, but most perish in the flames before they can sprout and grow. For in the Seed, germs the Goo, and only the One who Masters the Goo can become the Tree and perpetuate the Universe. The Seed is covered with sleeping symbiotes. These are the Kamis. They were awakened when the planet commenced its journey through the Universe. Once aroused, the Kamis travelled the surface of the Seed, molding it to their will.

The Fauna The Kamis drew on the energy of the Seed to create their playground. They used this same energy to breathe life into the creatures of Atys. The creatures are their servants or their playthings. But the Kamis are not always wide awake, and sometimes invent strange creatures that reflect their disposition.

The Flora The Seed has many ramifications that form the Atysian vegetation. The plants are not terribly cooperative with the capricious Kamis, but the Kamis use them nonetheless to engender, and then feed their creatures. But the Flora of Atys needs protection. Otherwise the Homin civilizations will perish, leaving nothing but the flourishing beastiality of the corrupting Goo…

The Homins The Kamis of Atys decided one day to unite their efforts and create a new species even more amusing than their first creatures, the fauna of Atys, and intelligent enough to entertain them indefinitely. The Kamis then united the noblest elements of the Seed and breathed life into the Tryker kind. The Kamis reveled in the company of the Trykers who amused them with their antics for a long time. But the Trykers needed to rest, to eat, and to find new inspiration or they would not last long. The Kamis, who were content with their new creatures, once again assembled the remaining resources of the Seed and conceived the other Homins in order to serve the Trykers. The Fyros were created to build the Tryker habitations, their tools and accessories. The Matis came into the light to tend the gardens and tailor costumes for the shows the Trykers put on for the Kamis. Finally, the Zoraïs were engendered in order to compose the rhymes and invent new plays to please the Kamis.
Fyros germination mythology :

The Venerable Tree had always been there. He grew and grew…filling the void of the Universe incessantly. Then, one day, he stopped growing. He knew the time had come to bear fruit. So he bore flowers that blossomed into fruit, which became ripe and heavy and then fell to ground. The flesh decayed and at last revealed the Seed. Some of the Seed was lifted by the breeze and carried to a new place, but some of the Seed burrowed into the ground beside the Great Tree and refused to budge. The young saplings roots grew entangled in those of the old Tree, who tried to chase them away ; but the young trees would not leave and spit their renegade sap at the Tree.

Corrupted by young saplings' vilainy, the sap took the shape of flaming firebrands and leaped on the Venerable Tree setting it ablaze. The Venerable Tree uprooted itself and began to stamp and shake its great branches, putting out some of the fire-born creatures while others took flight. The Tree burned for eons and its ashes were dispersed throughout the universe on cosmic winds. Its coals still burn and are the fire of stars, while the great Tree's ashes have long ago shaped the planets. The original firebrands have fled across the Universe. Many have been extinguished over time, and the other renegades are far from here now. The wisest of the Venerable's Seed have formed new trees, the others have perished. As for the original Tree, he seeks to regerminate ; to rise from his ashes and reunite the new trees and reknit the Universe.
Keepers of the Kamis

The Zoraïs are the Chosen, the Keepers of the Kamis. For them, the Age of Seed will be attained when the other species of Atys have shaken off their mortal coils and returned to the Original Energy, and Atys has given birth to the star that is inside of her. Then all Homins will be immortal and they will travel the universe on shooting stars towards their ultimate destination.
Matisian Goals :

• Obtain a perfect Celestial Seed of Atys in order to finish their masterpiece and plead for the return to their immortal state on the throne beside the Great Mentor. -• Engender the Seed or find one -• Cultivate the Seed
• Relationship with the Zoraïs: - heal them of their perversion; - eliminate or contain this polluted people of Atys.

Matisian Mythology :

Germination The Great Mentor was there, at the center of it all, when he shook himself from his reveries. A maelstrom of matter filled the space all around him engendering a nameless chaos. So, the Great Mentor gave birth to the void in order to have some room to think. Then he attributed a cycle of life to all matter, so that it would last only the time of its usefulness. He then destroyed the dangerous matter and tossed it into the void in order to commence his greatest masterpiece : the Universe.

The Great Mentor condensed the matter to mold the planets, his Celestial Seed. He then set them apart from each other with the void, to keep them from cross-breeding. The Mentor then set the impure matter ablaze in order to illuminate his masterpiece. This burning matter, which continues to expand unpredictably and regenerate permanently, has formed the stars.
Purpose

The design of the Great Mentor was written into his things from the beginning. He was there to ordinate the universe. All things in the universe must know their place, and reflect the genius of their Maker. All matter must obey the rules of the Mentor or rejoin the void.
The Chosen People

The Great Mentor needed scholars and technicians to assist him in his task of ordering the world. Each and every particle of the universe has a function. Matter must bend to the law of the Mentor or be evacuated to the Void. The Great Mentor needed helpers at the level of the planets to continue and perfect his masterpiece down to the smallest detail. He created the Matis in his image and imparted them his genius to create and ordinate-to bend the forces of Nature to their will.
The Kamis

The asteroids and satellites that orbit the planets are made of what is now one of Atys' rarest resources, Black Shoots. They were stationed there by the great Mentor to oversee the growth of the planets. The Matis draw a form of pure energy from the custodians, which enable them to tame matter. This energy has a conscience and was called, Kami.
This dichotomy provides the main friction and trade between the races. As there is no metal or stone from which to manufacture weapons, they have to use alternatives. The Fyros employ fire and fire-hardened wood for their weapons, which provokes worry amongst the other races. The Matis meanwhile have turned the living plants to their ends. Vicent gave the example of a Matis shield as an example: one would buy it as a seed and then grow it size. For those of any race wishing to us magic though, the Kamis are the only source and those who've chosen this path may find some suspicion from their more technologically minded brethren, as they must become friendly with the Zorai if they aren't already.

Completely random and wild suggestion...

Are we being 'grown' as hosts for another life form?

Given free will to allow natural selection and biological accidents.

We are all the same age, but we grow as we develope. (thinks to a reference about Zoria Masks growing but I can't remember if it was with skill or age)

Children (a dev concept at the moment, but a design intent) - create new life with skills combining attributes of the parents. (We are told the parents will age and die after giving birth!).

At the moment with the 'limited' (have to laugh I can only dream of get one lvl 250 let alone all of them) skill trees, its highly likely that the children will be similar to the parents. However lets say the add 4 more base skill types, now it will become almost impossible (not enough time even for a 24/7 gamer to achieve.) This will then create unqieness in a generic world.

IRL - we can be anything we want. (excuses and circumstance stop us)

So it will be the same in Ryzom, so much choice that it will be impossible to BE a god (max all skills)

There will be player defined roles the strong ones surviving over the weaker ones. (A lvl 250 hairdesser :D each to their own)

So the Nanoseed a chuck of DNA as we would see it. One for each homin/mob, the Planet (plant) is the growth medium, the culture plate, you might say.

Kami/Karavan - guess these are the monitors/side effects/controllers of the experiment.

maybe, Ryzom is a petri dish?

YES!

The litle bugger is already throwing his bicephalous extensions out of my body and he's saying he wants the following:

99 stacks of crafting mats
10 mill dappers
4 candy canes
5 "old amps" = better know as bashing sticks

He's saying that he will eat Atys if not attended to his needs... so c'mon people help me here...

Check shads's 2nd post.
Now the bit of this that really struck me was this:
shadowweb wrote: “As you must care for the seeds of life to prevent their fall to Atys; keep watch on the stars lest they fall from the firmament. Be united and care for each other, since a greater threat to the Homin races may loom overhead.”
Alien Invasion??

Maybe one day we will have to join with the Kitin to save our planet from a far greater danger.......

Possible, hint at the expansion which includes access to the canopy. Lvl300+ areas?
