In case you are a US player, the simplest I know is to download the EE client installer (beware! save your /save folder and screenies) and do a reinstall.

But as that file is 1.3 Gb, just wait around a bit for a small fix that will point your install to the Arispotle shard...

This is not a rant before anyone says something and I know nothing of computers / gaming etc re: programming, only know a littel bit about databasing etc
My question is....could they have not written a programme to compare tables of xyz (Wind) to tables of abc (Apri) re: name duplications, and give an exception report? Or is it way more complex than that? lol!

Yes, they will have done that or something similar - I imagine the problem with duplicate names is not finding them, but sorting them out fairly according to their rules - i.e. oldest lives, youngest needs to be renamed etc. They won't want to rush, since people with renamed chars may be a little annoyed about it, and they'd very much like to avoid annoying players, especially the ones who've been here the most.

Is it oldest keeps the name, or most hours played?

When do you see your char has been renamed? On the character selection screen or only once you get in-game? Anybody had this yet?

Not sure if you'll see it on char selection screen but have read you'll see it in game and simple send a ticket and they will change it for you!

lol i justed checked on Yoshi (this afternoon) she looked fine, bit hunry though wich made her 5 1st crafts a total disaster . the she ran into a nice american boy (kinda got some coulour on her cheeks she did). dunno how but suddenly 5 magnificent ql 200 pieces of art came out of her crafting tool.

think neun will be fine, Yoshi kinda likes him too
