Radeon 9700 pro problems...Help Please

Post by miyu1 »

Hi, I'm new to the game. I just downloaded the trial and so far I think the game is great. Very unique game. Anyway I'm having trouble with my graphic settings. If I enable anisotropic filtering and antialaising in D3D mode the game fails to start. It just stays at the nevrax screen with cpu usage at 99%. If i start the game with out af and aa(anisotropic filtering and antialaising) the game runs fine. In opengl I can run the game with aa and af except the in game menu turn into trash. Anyway around this? Experts...radeon users can you give me a hand?

You'll want to try running it in D3D instead of OpenGL. May not solve, but won't hurt. You can do that through the Ryzom Configuration file in the Ryzom folder last I checked.

opengl + radeon = bad
ryzom + radeon = dodgy for some people

I think you're just stuck with the lower settings :(

My Radeon 9700 Pro is doing fine with 4X AA and 8X AF enabled - by ControlCenter Switch. Rendermode is Direct3D of cause.

A reason for an initialisation failure might be *very* high resolution, as 128MB are probably not enought for several 1600x1200 framebuffers and textures. 1152x864 works fine for me.

Win2k latest drivers.

It is in D3D mode..but it still won't run with aa and af enable. :( Never had a problem like this in any game I've played.

Actually I just tried with AF enable only and it comes on! AA is the effect stopping the game from booting. Any suggestions? Im using catalyst 5.3 drivers btw.
