Hello..
I'm typing this, mostly, out of sheer aggravation and a pinch of incredulity.
What is the fascination Nevrax has with making Gingos/Ragus so ridiculously (and yes, it's ridiculous) oppressive a species of creatures so early on in the gameplay?
I keep coming back to check this game out in hopes that things that are just - off the wall is one way to put it - would have been tempered. The Gingos and Ragus are no better than they were before. In fact - they're worse.
In the period of 30 minutes - no joke - I tried to fight a Ragus (avoiding the gingos since I know they have higher HP, etc) 7 times. 7 out of 7 times I had to run back to town. Why? Because without fail, every single time I'm fighting one, another spawns right on top of it and immediately attacks. I was only able to defeat one twice out of 7 tries. I guess I got lucky on the timing and the other one spawned just as the first was about to die. This has been a problem since the game launched and got worse with Patch 1. I'm not even putting myself deep into the wooded areas. I stay fairly close to the road, out in the open. Doesn't matter where I am.. if I'm fighting a Ragus.. another will spawn right in that spot. Rather convenient.
Or, one will invariably come running from some remote distance (at least far enough for the LOD and animation detail to be notably decreased - you know, when they start moving all wooden-like?), make a bee-line for me and join in.
So.. what the hell is the deal with Nevrax and these Gingos/Ragus? I'm level 40 Offensive magic.. using Blind - and I *still* have a hard time fighting these things and have to run for my life.
Ugh!
Fed up! What's with the Ragus/Gingos?!

Re: Fed up! What's with the Ragus/Gingos?!
The ragus and gingo population outside and around yrk and that whole region is insane, I've never seen them so concentrated in one area anywhere else. They're not dangerous to me but they're annoying as hell to have to chop my way through there just to run through the area.
Oh sure you can say "well you can just run around them" I could but that would take just as much time to run around them than run through them. So I'm wasting my time having to run through these brain dead dogs that don't have the sense to get out of the path of my sword. "you fight one bean you fight the whole burrito" comes to mind when fighting them.
I still think once you get a certian ammount of lvls over a mob that it won't aggro you anymore. Especially with kinchers, their lightning special makes them dangerous at any level and their tele-aggro can be infuriating.

blind is useful when you have tank kicking it.. its no use when you use only magic.
.. and by now, dont you already know that they too hard for you and you should stay away ?.. there is plenty other mobs to kill
come to tryker, kill plants (with rot) and you get off.magic up quick
Re: Fed up! What's with the Ragus/Gingos?!
I found this to be only TOO true...if I loot, if I don't loot, I tend to be able to kill one, RUN away from the corpse and live.

I liked killing Gingo's and Ragus when I was small yeah I died alot but was fun
When you do kill them they give good xp
Ah btw when you use blind on your own it doesn't do much because when you launch a different attack after blind your blind link with the mob is broken again use Root instead to keep him far away , helped me alot when I was a small. Root, acid,Root,Acid,Root,Acid Dead Gingo/Ragus

Re: Fed up! What's with the Ragus/Gingos?!
Just want to mention one thing. You are on a very realistic styled Planet. The aggressive Flora just need to be stronger or at least as strong as a Homin in the same skill level. What that mean for a lower skilled homin is obvious.
That is necessary for keeping up the realistic illusion. And this realistic issue is very good implemented. My opinion.
That seem to be a feature that successfully differs sor from wow for example where you can beat every oppónent (aggressive / nonaggressive) around your skilllevel. - At least for some -
Please don`t forget that when you play SoR. To beat an agressive animal or kitin you almost always need to have a team to do so as those dmg and hitrate is extremely high, as you would expect from an wild animal.
Agro population. Seems that the Homins there do not very often ähm clean the Fauna - otherwise a imensive concentration of Gingos should not be reached.

Re: Fed up! What's with the Ragus/Gingos?!
solution to this problem, get someone to take you to another land.
its because of the ragus/gingo's that most matis will probably find it hard to get to the lvl 60+ where they become easy prey.
go to tryker only got the gaoris and cloppers to worry about and you cans ee them from a mile off
or get yerself kami fame and come to the desert. still gingos but easily avoidable (exept 2-3 baying gingos right outside pyr which I'm sure every desert dweller has had the misfortune to meet at some point)

but you do to get the spawns
cost a fortune in TP tickets if you had to do it every time you die (and I know you can spawn in pyr its just that the desert cities are quite a distance apart and its a pain in the butt to walk to them .............and an absolute monster treck to thesos........kincher/varinx/kipesta/ocyx/zerx hell
Re: Fed up! What's with the Ragus/Gingos?!
Try pulling one gingo at a time to an area that is safe. Whack it once, and run back a lil' ways, whack it again.
Good luck!
