I absolutely agree. One of the things that has kept me in game through all the bugs and all the strange patches were the friendly GMs we have had.

All have their own idiosyncrasies

Plangent - Fondness for fyros clothes even if mismatched and keeper of the graveyard shift. (Thanks for keeping me sane during some of those FBT patches :P had fun in FBT guild with you and Mindadar).
Mindadar - Fond of his tryker stuff and remember testing circle attack? :P
Recon - The big blue beetle a bit to fond of donuts?
Takashi - Master of the knitting needle.
Azhrarhn - Always rushing off and forgetting his pants. Could be occasionally seen running around hiding (or maybe looking for his pants )
Mintaka - Liked to display those scary sounding titles.
Shadowthorn - Quiet arch enemy of Takashi :P

Some of them I've had the pleasure of getting to know and discuss various things. Others I only have had brief interactions. But as a group they were always there for the community. I will miss them and wish them all well.

Not really alot i can say here, except I am sad we will no longer see them, they werent just GM's to us, from Beta & all through FBT, they were our friends, never ignored us, they helped us whenever we needed it, but most importantly to me, they made me laugh, always had something fun to say.

Love ya all & will miss ya :(

The merging of the Windermeer and Arispotle servers is not a desperate move, nor is it a sign of dooms day or any other such non-sense.
This merger was needed due to the low population on the NA server. This is not a bad sign anymore than it is for other mmorpgs that are combining low pop count servers with higher pop count ones.....*cough* *cough*......EQ2, and SoE has a ton of money to draw from to keep a low pop server running. Any company when faced with loosing money, maybe not overall but in a particular division, will take steps to correct the loss in that particular area, and I can't imagine Nevrax was making any money off the NA server. Nevrax may one day in the future have a NA server or another english server if the combined server becomes to crowded, but for right now, I think it is a smart move for them as a company.

As far as lag issues are concerned, I doubt it will be a serious problem, especially since there are players from Australia, the UK, and several other overseas countries that are playing on the NA server with no problems.

I will definitely miss our GMs from the Windermeer server, but I hope they continue to be a part of SoR in some way. I have heard very good things from the players on the Arispotle server about their customer support teams and GMs so I don't think we'll have to worry about that either.

I do hope that some of you that are thinking of or have decided to quit due to the merger will stop before you make a rash judgement and see what it is like by playing for a week or two. As grimjim has said, they too on the Arispotle server have their concerns about us crazy north americans and "yanks". ;) Overall SoR has a very mature community, and I don't forsee many problems except with some player and guild names which hopefully not too many peeps or guilds will have to change names. I for one am looking forward to playing with our neighbors across the pond. :)

They can get rid of a complete support staff that way (Cerest put up a bold front with earlier messages about how she expected to be around for the long run; I can only guess at the actual Windermeer subscription numbers). They can get rid of a server farm. If they lose the US players they have now due to lag or other factors, they will still be ahead of the game, assuming the US server was a money loser.

Unfortunately, this kind of retrenchment usually is a bad sign. I suspect Nevrax is not doing well overall, even in Europe. If they were doing well, they'd probably pour more resources into the US to try to expand the game, rather than retreating across the ocean. The very slow pace of game developement is another sign of trouble.

I agree with rmillard that all the signs here point to SoR going the way of the dodo.

I agree...

though I am only doing the 14 day trial at the moment, a greater population will only enhance gameplay.

Players don't want to play in a world that is not full of life. This will give you a seemingly greater player base (seemingly in that they were always there... just on another server) and with this will come more fun in the future.

Though losing your gm's can be hard and sad, it would also be sad if they didn't take this step and one of the more interesting and individual MMO's out there went the way of the Dodo...

Though I have only been playing a few days (having disconnect issues which I'm hoping to fix) I can see that this world is very unique and beatiful. Quite frankly.. it is the best looking world that I've seen in any MMO.

It seems a bit complicated but hopefully that can be overcome.

Roaming herds of creatures.. that is unheard of.. and quite frankly makes the whole experience even better.

good luck to the gm's out there.

Knowing our amazing Events team i am most certain that they will be doing "night" (EDT) events as well as GMT based ones. As we are now becomming a worldwide server i bet our CS team will take good care of you from across the pond =)

Tho i know they can never replace your GMs im sure you will be plesantly surprised.

You do know lots of companies are successful without any NA operation. You do also know that there are many MMO's they run in non-NA areas and are very successful. The NA market didn't work for them, so they are ended the NA operations and focusing in the ones in Europe.

I think its a case as was similar to my old work. One area bringing in less money, therefore becoming an expense, and when somewhere else can do the same thing, then merging the two seems to be the solution.

Basically we had two areas, both did the same thing. From the companies perspective their bigger office in Stirling (Scotland btw) could hold the people in the Glasgow office and still allow them to do their jobs just as well. Just like i say, in another location.

Unfortunately this time, i dont see Nevrax giving me a big sum of money (then again, im getting to stay this time hehe) :D

From my point, im still gonna be able to play with my friends, and meet whole new lot of people. :)

But i am a bit miffed that we gonna lose our GM's coz i know the sting of "everyone will still have their jobs, well...except you, you and you"
