Story Events on Sunday

Post by systemv »

I just want to say thanks to the official event crew for putting the stuff together on Sunday – I had a ton of fun.

The Egg Hunt , though simple in execution, really show-cased the flexibility of the engine. I literally said “oooooh” outloud when I saw that first bow-wrapped egg :) . The items inside were a great preview of the potions and edible items that they have planned for us in the future too.

The other event about the Harbingers of Doom was pretty exciting too. I’m glad there wasn’t a pre-planned announcement for it, made the whole thing very immersive.
One thing I found though, and I have no idea how this can be fixed, is that people who were late coming to the spot with the messenger didn’t know what needed to be done next. So time gets wasted while things are recapped for them. Unfortunately it can’t really be helped but I know some people were pretty disappointed by it. I was fortunate enough to be one of the first ones there and then get grouped with some high lvl players which got to the next point quickly. I can imagine how it must have been for those struggling to get through some high aggro spots just to find out the story characters are already gone or aren’t talking anymore.

Another thing, and I’m sure a lot of people will disagree, is that I LOVE the fact that we’re moving away from the Kitins as the focal point of tension. The world is very detailed and these factions can’t always get along, I’m glad we’re taking an active part in the drama :) . The Kitin war is still a good basis for events and stuff but the variety really helps.

I’m looking forward to the unfolding plot and I hope the complaints you received don’t deter you from doing this more regularly – you all did a great job.

Can you explain what the event was?

I thought all it was was a bunch of eggs lying around with potions to heal measly amounts of stats?

I suspect a full recap is coming but I'll give you a short version.

In the afternoon there was a second event. It started with Mynias, the watcher, calling out for help to stop a messenger suspected to be working for the Harbingers of Doom in Thesos(this went out global in around chat). He was on the west road heading toward the springs. We caught up with him at the border to the Scorched Corridor. Saiwin questioned him at length and it was found that he was just doing the Harbinger's dirty work as they had his family hostage in Hidden Source. So off we went to Hidden Source to save his family. When we got there an officer for the Harbingers(forgot the name) was threatening to kill the family if we came closer. After a bit she sends out a message to the rest of the Harbingers to kill the messenger for bringing help, then she ported. After making sure the family was ok we went back to Thesos to find the messenger and make sure he was protected. We escorted him to Thesos as the Harbingers were following closely behind us, after we got him to a safe spot they retreated.

At Thesos the messenger was reunited with his family, while some homins(Veertigo *cough*) leered at his daughter :D . The messenger read to us the note that he was delivering and it talked about an upcoming Trial for the Blades. The Blades were stopped in a previous event and now they were going to be punished. As a side note officers for the Harbingers had to bring at least one recruit in black armor to put through a trial to fill the ranks. Mynias came and asked for volunteers and Mai from Silverwatch was chosen as one of the people to infiltrate the group - others would be approached he said.

Probably missing a lot of details but that was the jist of it :)

This is the most satisfying event I've experienced so far. It can be hard to get involved in these when certain people (iminnocentiswear) hog all the action. Then again, sometimes we have the opposite problem (there was a similar event on friday, and only three of us responded at all).

This next event sounds like a lot of fun and will give the lower players more of an opportunity to participate. Good going, Takashi!

I did too - keeping a sharp eye out for a wee glitter that was another egg and sometimes looting it right from under torbaks and kinchers. I honestly did giggle a couple of times. LOL and I did use most of mine.

Not to throw a too much of a wet blanket on this, but I don't believe isolated events that involve only a few high-level characters are going to help this game very much.

I hope the Kitin War becomes much more of a focal point to this game, in contrast to the original poster. That way everyone, from the newest charater to the most grizzled vet, could have a purpose and could affect the gameworld. I don't see it happening, though.

We rez'd a lot of people... we were following the yellow dots hoping to find where the story was! Every time we got to the "spot" the "spot" moved. We missed some of the key points since some of the info wasn't in Region or Shout. There were people that arrived in the beginning still asking "what's going on? Can I get a group?" at the end of the event.

The high level mobs and the myriad of high level players didn't stem the tide of those that wanted to be part of the story. Unfortunately it seemed to advance too quickly for most to follow.

Mynias: "Stop the messenger in Thesos!"
Messenger: "Save my family in Hidden Source and I'll tell you what I know"
HoD: "Arrggh, we will cut out that messenger's tongue"
Back to Thesos!
Messenger: "Thank you! Here's the letter!"
Mynias: "Great news! I saved a bunch of money on my auto insurance!"
Vader: "Luke, I am your father"
Luke: "Nooooo!!"

In the end a few volunteered to be recruited by HoD and be spies. HoD's are going to be suspicious but they are despirate. Xelir, Vertigoo and Mai were the most outspoken of the volunteers. We'll have to wait to see who the HoD will approach.

Thanks to Saiwin who filled us in and kept us going. BTW, did they ever get Mai's lips pryed off Mynias' butt?? One word: "Chapstick" :)
