Some Thoughts On Offensive Affliction

Post by alibasil »

Hiya guys- just thought whilst i was bored and waiting for the server to come back online i'd see if you shared my PoV on this:

Blind
If you cast it on a mob (which hasnt noticed you)- how is it able to run over to you and try to attack you? I thought it was blinded?

Root
Is really useful but almost to the extent of not needing melee- and to be fair meleers are having a hard enough time as it is (it seems melee is becoming obsolete in bigger battles)

Madness (this is important imho)
Does it really work? If so it would be great if in the afflicters sys info we could see "you make mob X hit itself for 500hp"

Slow Attack/Movement
To be honest i havent even tried using these much. I think they are kinda useless compared to the other spells (but thats my opinion)

I havent tested out the defensive ones- im hoping someone out there has some constructive criticism on them :)

My point about getting more info in the sys info box for madness i think could be applied to all of these spells. I chose madness cos i think this particularly applies

Blind doesn't affect the rest of the creatures senses, so I can still taste, fell, smell etc.

Melee still has its place, there are creatures which can take a beating and still get into close combat. Granted they are often boss mobs...
Ranged has always been the weapon of choise, untill flying weapons arrived anyway.

I concur, would be very helpful. Did you send a ticket yet?

Well it works, but doesn't look very useful as the (attack) speed seems almost the same, I am not that high in using it so can't really tell.

Stun good for groups mob gets stunned makes it easier for tanks to hit meaning quicker kill

Fear good to solo as mage to get extra damage in before it isnt scared of you

Sleep good crowd control for groups but Bomb effect doesnt work with it so doesnt get to more than one mob at a time

Take a low level mob (a yubo or so), cast madness, and let it hit you. Or, if you are a bit of a higher level offensive link magician .. cast madness on a boss mob, and watch its hp go down like a rock.

I have seen this too- it does work - but i wanna see how effective it is- we need some detail in the sys info. (i have sent in a ticket- but wanted to see if you other people agreed seeing as the devs watch the forums too)

as for the blinding- i agree the mob could be able to smell/hear you- but it shouldnt be able to run straight at you!

At the moment there is nothing wrong with offensive affliction,
When you blind the mob it can't see any incoming attacks. If you don't want to have to mob runing to you use stun, fear or sleep..

Yes, i agree. Similar to bleed for melee. It works but it would be nice to know how effective it is.

Well, the more damage a mob does, the more damage it hits himself for. So madness is the most effective when you cast on a high damage - low hp mob (zerx, cuttler, gingo, ...)
