An apology

Post by boinged »

It all started innocently enough, I'd been enjoying my holiday in Matia with the rest of the Samsara. We explored, harvested and hunted in this very different land. A few of us even offered our services to the various town welcomers, corporals and local tribes. It didn't matter that we weren't paid much, this week wasn't about dapper. Well, not really...

My travelling pack was stuffed with the essential tools that I had brought with me, as well as a few souvenirs quartered from any creatures that crossed my path. Yrkanis tavern was on my route, so I thought I'd sample the famous Psykopia Punch I'd heard so much about. The barman wasn't happy when I ordered my third one but I convinced him I could handle more than the regulars - who were sipping Yana wine as they wrote love poetry.

I thought I'd better get some air after that and looked around for somewhere to get grilled Yubo on a stick. I'm not sure how I ended up in the richly decorated room but had to take advantage of it while the guards were busy helping yet another pathetically overcome refugee. The ornate dagger by the large chair looked like it had been carelessly discarded and I still needed a gift for Jool. As I examined the craftmanship, the full effects of the punch took hold and I just managed to sit down before I passed out!

The prison cell I woke up in was sparse but comfortable, I've slept in worse. How was I to know that I'd staggered into the throne room? I was only going to borrow the dagger, honest! The guard chief did take my high standing with the Kingdom into account and together with this apology I only had to do a week of hard time. Sorry King Yrkanis, believe me - it won't happen again.

Yea and when they called me last week about bailing you out, I said forget it. You're lucky it was only a week.

You better hope I've calmed down by time you get back to Fyros, Rashan.

Hmm it worries me that an officer in the Samsara is caught Stealing- i could accept you were a mercenary but a thief is far worse!

What if you had taken that dagger- and then it was stolen from you by bandits on your way back to fyros? that would be a priceless item lost forever!

Thank Ma-duk the dagger is still in Yrkanis- that could have been the death penalty for you!

I only hope The Samsara also have an appropriate punishment for your foolish behaviour too!

You need to redeem yourself Rashan!

More training so he doesn't get caught next time?

We do have some new trainees for him to deal with, that's punishment a plenty.

As a face many know, I am not the one to ask you more questions about your abilities Rashan. But feel free to contact me when you are *drunk* again.

And to Juydas, I thought we were going to the baths?

Thief?
Overcome by bandits?

Nonsense!

Perhaps I went a little far this time (all down to the punch, your honour) but that dagger was just lying there - ripe for the pilfering! I know for a fact that similar valuables are annoyingly locked away in the Intendant's Palace in my lands. I know it was wrong to liberate the dagger, but I get the feeling that the King wouldn't have even known it was missing.

Jyudas is right about the trainees though - I'm away for a week and four of the puny wretches show up! I don't like getting up at dawn as much as the next homin, but someone has to go and pour freezing water on our recruits.

Perhaps to show my appreciation for the mercy of others I'll reduce my rezzing fees to 50,000 dapper.

For 50,000 I expect a foot rub with my rez... and some co-co.
