Recruiting: New Player Question Answerers

Post by marct »

As an effort to Bridge the Gap that most of the forum posters have noticed, I am recruiting players to volunteer to me and the community. What I am asking for is the following.

A volunteering of some of your time (1 hour increments please) to stand in a prominent place in the beginning town (the town you are ported to from Noob Island) on a continent, and answer any and all questions brought to you by players to the best of your ability. Also, to record the questions you are asked, and provide a brief response summarization to me so that we may compile a list for all of the volunteer to use.

My goal would be for us the players to be able to man a Q & A post in each land for a minimum of 1 hour every day, and for several hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

If you or your guild would like to participate in this, please respond here, or to me in-game and I will go from there.

Some other ideas I have are to coordinate the same at the Noob Islands, possibly on a less frequent basis.

Please provide feedback to me, I will be requiring intimate knowledge of the lvl 0-50 zone for which you are volunteering, and 2 references from well respected people in-game so that you may participate. This is about helping people understand the game, and enjoy it. If we do this right, we will be able to grow the population ourselves.

Thanks for your help and support.

*applauds you for this effort*
My volentary time will be limited to weekend on evening time frame, let me get with the wife this week and find out what she will let me give a solid time to help with a time slot.

Let me know if this will be acceptable.

Edit:
Nix this for me, sorry, do to new life events, my game time is going to be nill, possibly just move to WoW instead.

I wish you all the best in this effort.

How's this for an idea? Rather than stand around in the capitol, people create temporary characters and answer questions in the noob isles. The most common problem that noobs seem to have these days is that they're left the isles too soon, and simply aren't strong enough to survive/enjoy the mainland. Having experienced people in the isle to help them start good characters and to tell them not to leave too soon would go a long way towards alliviating this problem.

Upon closer reading I see that Noinossalg had the same idea.

I love this idea! I'd like to help. You could sign me up for an hour each day on the weekend.

I'll see if I can get some other people from our guild to pitch in too.

After release there was a HUGE reinflux of retread newbies. When all of the new players returned and recreated their characters after they learned NOT to go to mainland at level five, ten or even twenty.

I was a newbie squatter, I stayed until I clearly couldn't level much farther in my chosen favorite (digging) I was around level 70 forager when I left and spent three DAYS in newbie working on melee and magic so I could HOPE to live.

I heard PLENTY of people then reminding people NOT to jump ship too soon. One thing you will eventually learn is that the HURRY UP and get to end game is inevitable, even if there IS no end game, even if you tell them not to hurry up. Even when you tell them, in DETAIL why NOT to go, they will NOT listen, or if they listen, they will NOT believe you. Sometimes giving advice is not worth it.

IF someone asks for it, give it freely, but if they don't...you are wasting your time.
