Dodge is based on you magic lvl or you non combat skill (harvest/craft) divided by 2 + 10. Armour adjusts this base value.

Hope this helps

No self healing doesn't give you XP, you only gain magic XP for healing others. I think their might even have been a Self Magic skill branch at one point, a long long time ago.....
The defense tree used to take XP to lvl, when the XP capping system was implemented the tree was removed, you never know it may come back, imaging kill a 3k mob and having 1.5k melee xp and 1.5k defence XP. The tree never gave Stanzia rewards or SP, so nothing was really lost.

Self heal magic, was great you actually cast a heal on youself and gain XP. It had its own tree with stanzia etc you gained SP too. However, due to exploiting (nicknamed the Yubo Party) players were able to deliberatly get hurt and use the skill. This lead to a tree that could be level just by collecting a group of mobs that did small damage (zero risk) and 'self healing' then killing the Mob to collect you next self heal level.

With all games great features are lost due to abuse of them and some ideas just work in concept and not in the actual game play.

Lets not dwell on how the game used to be, its great the way it is and getting better. I remember the days in beta of bomb healing a group and gaining 10 lvls in def magic in one fight. They may have been good times, but image what the effect would be if everyone was a GC in the first week of play.

Thanks for your replies, things get clearer now :)
But, I've one more question:

Which skill is taken into consideration regarding your ability to use an armour?

Let me explain. Psylo gave me yesterday a full set of light armor with focus bonus ql120ish (thanks, thanks thanks :p ). As I didn't have any other armor, I used it to go and level my defense magic. My fight and magic skills are around 30. As expected, the durabilty of the armour dropped fast (too fast). Hopefully, I'll get enough money tonight to buy a "fighting" light armour to preserve the "forage" one but that's not the point.

What I'd like to know is which skill level should I look at to know what quality is best suited.

As it was the first topic of this thread, I'd like to add that I shouldn't have been worried. So, if any newcomer read this, believe these guys, there are many people around :) And more important, I've met just a few people but you can feel it in the atmosphere of FH, the community is one of the nicest, the more helpfull and, just... coolest I've ever seen. Spend some time there and you'll feel like at home.

armours work like this

heavy, Q10 above your strength and should only be used for melee trees due to penalty to sap/hp/focus costs
medium, not sure of what lvl you can wear over your lvl but alot of people swear they are the best if your in a mixed role i.e second tank / support healer
light, dont need and prequisites you can wear q250 if you want (just finding it the hard part) use for casting/diggin

Its the Tryker, way read the Lore section and you will find that Tryker are Carefree and playful (but a little mischievous).

Light armour - on restriction on it is supply. :P You can wear ql250 light + 125 boost from the moment you are born.

Medium armour - Your consitution/2 + 10 = the QL you can wear

Hvy armour - You constitution +10 = ql you can wear

Jewels - no restriction

Weapons - Strength + 10 = ql

Range weapons - Balance + 10 = ql

Sheilds - see hvy

Amps - Intellegence + 10 (Amps will boost spell with a credit requirement equal to or less than the ql)

Think thats about it ....

That's why I chose to be a Tryker :p

So, it's absolutely normal that my amour losts around 10 durabilty points in an evening?
I though armours decay faster if they were too high ql for your level. I read that somewhere...

Answered on the parallel thread ....

Wear rate is dependant on the differentail (+/- difference between you the item and the mob fought)

Quick Note for all the lvl 110 peeps that fight in the GOC in matis .... thanks for the business :D But if you fought mobs of your own level you would hit more often and break your stuff less. I am in no way saying don't do it .... just explaining that the problems you encounter are of you own making.

*goes off to get slapped when he next visits GOC*
