Ya know what would be cool?

Just a little suggestion here, so bear with me.

I think it would be really neat to have a player trademark system for most crafted items. For instance, a player could create his trademark and choose to put it on items he crafts, such as armor or swords.

Maybe to help you visualise this concept, think if everyone in your guild had the guild symbol stamped on the back of their vest. Or, say if Haddo made swords.
A homin spots this high quality shiny sword someone is carrying. He moves a little closer, and sees Haddo's special symbol on the hilt of the sword. Imeediately he knows this sword was made by Haddo. (as for jewelry, Haddo doesnt really need visual markers on his jewels because he's famous enough already. ;) ). This would add a kind of 'fame feature' for players, as well has add a little pep to coorporate Atys.

Also, I don't think this would be very hard for the devs to impliment. It could be just a little something added to the chapter four patch, whenever it decides to get here.

So...what do you guys think?

*nods* I believe Lyrah68 posted a similar idea but I recalled that hers was more detailed. If I remember correctly, a crafter would be able to miake minor changes to the overall design and as they leveled, the changes would become more significant and visible and thus making the crafted item really unique.

I believe it was Lyrah68. Correct me if I'm wrong. x.X;

But, I agree random44. It would be a pretty nice addition ot the game. I've just begun crafting after foraging for some weeks.^_^

I agree completely. I was just thinking about this the other day. A Crest or something to be placed in a location on the item. That would be neat. Maybe it would be in the same place for a certain piece. (i.e. on a HQ Matis amp it is in place ...) Then they could do it as the guild symbols almost. Maybe you get the Crest ability at lvl 50, a more complex Crest at lvl 100, etc. etc. So everyone has something to look forward to.

I like it a lot!!!

I just want to be able to dye armor different colors, something like.... dig up a mat of a certian color and you can extract the dye from the mat and use it to dye a piece of armor.

Or have dye plants sitting in various place of the world, some colors are more common to find (brown, green, pink, orange) while other colors like (red, blue, black, white) are harder to find/reach due to nasty aggro mobs camping the spots where they pop and/or have longer respawn times.

But the idea to be able to "stamp" crafted items is a good idea I think, especially for a guild who is able to provide gear for their own members. Be a way to advertise your guild "hey we can provide you with good gear if you join us" kind of thing.

I like the idea, but I think Nevrax would be hard pressed to implement custom markings on all crafted items. It seems like they would have to create custom skins for each crafter who puts his own emblem on stuff they make. It is a great idea though..hmm...

I play DAoC too. They kinda do that, but it's actually you guild emblems and colors you can get put onto your shields and capes.

Guild Emblems would be cool...
AC gave you the ability to "scribe" an object - add a text string that you could read to it - not sure how hard that would be to add...

Ok, this idea may be a little off base, but here goes:

You know all those pigment mission mats ? What if there was a single slot in the crafting recipe for a pigment that was optional ? You could either not use a pigment and get the color of item the mats themselves would give, or you could employ a pigment and override the mats coloration. That way we'd finally see choice and better items in colors other than red, blue, black, white. For this to work pigments would have to be treated like normal crafting mats as well as mission mats. Just an idea.
