I have tried out and started over several fighter characters just to get a feel for what skills, abilities, etc, that i should train in to alter my character in the direction i would liek to take him. If anybody is interested in posting methods and theories to make a good fighter, feel free to add them here on this thread. I currently have a lvl 58 2he with magic playing a support role to my skills.
Up to this point most of my upgrades that i have trained have a cost of 10 sp, but now that i have risen above lvl 51 and broke into another skill tree, i have seen several new 50sp cost features available to me. Warcry, feint, berserker, etc...I havent dared to spend that many sp yes since i have no idea how well each of those skills work. I can raise plenty of sp, so getting the points for such a high cost arent the problem, but deciding whether or notI can earn a lot of sp since i learn cc and 1he together as well as 2he, i also have used forage and trained minimal forage skills to keep earning a decent amount of xp and used the rest of my forage sp to raise my hp regen and that saves me from exhausting my fighter sp. This is about it for now, any other good advice would be greatly appreciated and maybe this thread could help out a lot of people answer the little questions about the game that may help them not waste points for skills they may not need depending on what kind of fighter you desire to create.
Thanks

No, i just enjoy playing melee class and like to know others opinions on how well things worked for them. Besides, the server is down and i have nothing better do to
Re: Fighter Advice
I'm in the same boat you are, just broke 50. I took Melee Aura early as recommended by a guildmate and it's worked out beautifully. Just got Warcry over Berserker by recommendation as well but haven't had a chance to try it.
Feint looked interesting but I think I need more stuff for stanzas before it becomes useful.
I'm seriously considering Berserker as I'm going the 2he route and it just seems like the obvious choice for a power tank

Re: Fighter Advice
Always raise constition and stamina when possible
Have the best taunt available
Have the best increased damage available
Have the best accurate attack available
Have the best attack after parry possible
Have the best attack after critical possible
Have some form of self heal
If you using heavy armor set your self to parrymode
War Cry and Beserker are similar i would suggest War cry if your more of a team player and when it all goes pear shaped melee arua and speed boost are a life saver ;D

Re: Fighter Advice
I've just gotten my melee to 75, and i am now working on bring 1he and cc up to the same lvl as well...For those unsure if they wont have enough skill points to work with, this is a good method to earn some extras to help pick up those costly but well worth it skills like warcry, melee protect..etc. I dont find it necessary to raise my skills evenly like so, but i think that if your interested in building a pure melee character then this is a good start. This can be a bit much for the casual player, and so for those players i'd reccomend at least getting 1he and 2he to lvl 75. This will still give you close combat points if you opt for using a dagger in secondary hand when fighting in a group. As far as what to spend them all on....
Max Stamina and Constitution
Max Metabolism and Balance (Optional)
Allows for lots of stamina/hit points to use for your adventures.
Max out Taunting Skill
Max Incresed Damage
Max Accuracy
Max After Parry
Max After Critical Hits (Good when using sword and dagger)
Max Self Heal Health/Stamina
These are what i would train even if i started all over again. This gives you a great base of skills to work with and you can make some nice attacks when modiftying your stanzas. You will still have leftover skill points after maxing all of these by the time you get to lvl 75. There are many different things to choose from such as warcry, berserker, melee protection...etc. with these leftover skill points. The best advice i can give when choosing what skills to train would be to train things that compliment your fighting style.

It all depends on what your dodge versus parry is. For example in the case of a high lvl mage doing some mele it may very well be advantegous to use Dodge instead of parry. Even for a Mele using some sort of secondary mele skill that may be far lower than primary mele skill Dodge may be advantageous (i.e. a 200+ 2 hander getting some extra poionts in lets say CC which starts at lvl 50). In the previous example the mele's dodge will be 200+ but his parry will be 50 in CC mode.

I would say Berserker first because I agree with you. When things get bad Mele Aura can save a team from being wiped out. The thing is Mele Aura and War Cry share a timer. Berserker has an independant timer. Warcry is a luxury imo that can be put off till later levels where points are plentiful.
Re: Fighter Advice
How does feint work exactly....i can make a stanza that has feint, but it rarely hits. When i make the stanza with a credit of attck after feint, the box stays shadowed as would attack after parry, dodge, etc. i can't seem to reach any conclusion as to if feint is working or not and exactly how consistent it is. I seem to have to use feint several times in succession before i get my hit after feint attack to pop up. Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Fighter Advice
For the Feint stanza : actually there are two stanza to create :
1 / create a stanza just with the feint action.
This action will perform a 'fake' attack on your ennemy
2/ create a stanza with the fighting primar stanzas (accuracy, etc) with a feint credit.
This stanza will be activate and performable if your feint attack is successful (it works like parry)
In my point of view, it is useful in long battle, when you lack of stamina but with enemies not to strong (i.e. that do not hurt you often or without huge damages)

Re: Fighter Advice
I absolutely recommend getting Circular Attack early on too, for those happy moments when you discover you're standing on a spawn point
It's of most use when you're the main tank and have to taunt all the adds off the healers so they can then concentrate on keeping you standing. It's the cheapest way to do more total damage for your HP/Stam. I copy my main action, add in Circular Attack, then make two copies of that before removing the Accurate Attack stanza. Then add one of Attack After Dodge/Parry and Attack After Critical credits to the two copies.
Then you get Circular Attack 2 and 3 and start to run out of space on your hand bar
