history: Zorai cities (of intuition)

Post by faedyne »

I am Zorai, and I had noticed earlier from maps that there are 3 landmarks that look like giant hollow tree stumps in the 3 corners of The Withering. The one in the Void, called Paramount Stock, is completely deserted. The one in Knot of Dementia is called Desertstock, and houses a huge Kitin army and Kitin larva as a resource spot. I haven't seen the one in Grove of Umbra, called Withered Stock.
Now reading the history of the area of Cities of Intuition, during the ritual, you hear the following line "Still under the trauma of the great kitin invasion, the Zoraïs purposely built these first settlements of the Witherings into hollows of the bark to allow better defense in case of kitin attack."
Now, are all the mountains actually made of wood, being Atys, the living tree? I don't think we've ever had an answer to that... with all the language issues in the game, it made me wonder if it was actually meant to describe where the OLD cities of the Zorai were, in these hollowed out tree trunks.
Even if I'm way off, what are the significance of these giant tree trunks?

Thoughts?

Yes, there isn't supposed to be any metals or rocks - this is a wooden planet. You see quasi rocks in places where you aren't supposed to go but other than that they've stayed true to this detail. When you quit the game you'll notice it in the big picture on the screen how wooden the floor looks :)

I have seen the stumps as well and I do believe they are old settlements.

I beleive the old cities and old lands are in areas we don't have access to. In otherwords like much else that stuff isnt impelmented yet.

The "hollows" in the bark are infact where the current cities are. If you notice all of the cities are surrounded by "cliffs" that rise up out of the ground. Another way to look at this is that the tops of the "cliffs" are infact normal ground level and the cities are therefore in the hollows. I think this was implied either elsewhere in the lore, or in one of the competitions (maybe only on the EE server; I'm not sure about the NA server)

That is correct. They built the current cities into the hollows because of the fact that they had no protection during the Kitin invasions.

Your right, that is a HUGE contradiction in the storyline (what else is new). If there are no rocks, where did all the sand come from?

While we're on the subject of Zorai history can anyone make sense of the following from a short story on the site?

"The first magnificent temple to the glory of Jena and her Kami Guardians was built on the very spot of Cho's enlightenment and grew into Zoran, the ancient capital of the Zorai. "

You can read the whole thing here.

Does that mean the Kami are guardians of Jena as well and just spout a different philosophy as the Karavan? What of Ma-Duk, is it just a different name for Jena? They refer to Ma-Duk as "she" so it's very possible...
