The Crafters Society of Pyr

Post by shenan »

Has Enron got you down? Securities and Exchange Commission hot on your trail? We have a business proposition that may be right up your (dark) alley…

We are the Crafters Society of Pyr, a freelance crafters group dedicated to one overriding goal: the creation of an oligarchic syndicate to monopolize and exploit the local Ryzom economy. No guild hierarchy, no cash dues, no crafting obligations, no orders, no code of conduct, no need to give out “freebies”. This is not a guild, but rather an organization dedicated to price fixing. We are a cartel.

Only self-sufficient crafters demonstrating an ability to turn high profits and create the highest caliber equipment in their specialized field will be admitted. Why become a slave to your guild-mates, and constantly crafting for peanuts, when you can operate in a society of like-minded and profit-driven individuals? The society’s members may not always be working for each other, but like sharks at a poker table, we also aren’t working against each other.

With your increased revenue you can buy yourself a nice new apartment. Or ten of them for that matter. Buy your own guild hall. Remember, once future patches allow, the society also intends to take control of the real estate market in Pyr through our connections with local beureacrats and manipulation of eminent domain.

As any smart operation, from OPEC to La Cosa Nostra, the society knows that competition is a hindrance and we intend to eliminate it. By grouping together the top crafters in the land and negotiating fixed prices, we can effectively purge any under-cutting, thus increasing profits for everyone in the group. We have no code of ethics. No hokey “help your fellow homin” rules. In fact, we would actively encourage you to let other homins be killed so that they may realize the importance of better equipment, thus further increasing all our profits.

We currently have most of the local administrators, overseers, corporals, and guards in our pocket, and we have sufficient connections with the royal family of Pyr to further extend our operations.

We are a Fyros-only organization: vertically challenged Trykers need not apply. Oh, and if you couldn’t tell already, we are evil. No goody-two-shoes moralistic types either, please.

Contact Shenanigans in game for details. And remember, greed is good

Hi Shen,

Now I know why I've been having to pay so much for my armor and weps. Perhaps the harvesters, melee, and mages should also start their own cartells then we could all fight against each other until Fyros goes bottoms up.

Thanks,

Ryzorski

For those who did not get it, the above "guild promotion" was a joke.... perhaps my sarcasm is not quite obvious enough :P

Quick note to new members of the society; please disregard the above "joke" reference, the semi-annual meeting of the cabal will be held as normal. Topics of interest will include "exploiting gullible homins" and "keeping the society secret by telling everyone about it". Don't forget to wear your tinfoil hat.

I know it's wrong and evil to just post a LOL as a response but this made me laugh out loud and I just had to thank you for cheering up my day.

Edit:

That's too funny Pan, I loaded the post about 20 minutes ago and have only just hit submit and what do I see? Pandorae! (Yeah yeah, bad rhyming I know)

OK, your mission statement clearly said self sufficient crafters etc. etc.

How about harvesters? I am focussing primarily on harvesting and plan to stay that way. I am thinking that an organization such as yours might be a good thing for me to tie into.

Ah, just reread the rest of the thread. I spotted the humor but thought there was a real guild hiding behind the humor. My mistake. :)
