The assumption that there's nothing there is incorrect :)

For a start, the small hut with smoking chimney is made from metal, looks nothing like any other building in the game (AFAIK - feel free to correct :) ), makes a strange noise, and has small cogs on the back (the side you can't see from the screen shots).

There is certainly something there, but we'll have to wait for story changes to involve it.

BTW, screenies like that can be taken by editing your config file, for zoom setup. Just as you can set a huge maximum value for zoom, you can also set a huge value for minimum. Once you've done that, look straight forwards, and zoom zoom zoom - solid objects and other hindrances will be removed as the camera passes through them :) (try minimum at -1000 and maximum at 1000)

I guess the 'shot of the branches' is achieved with the opposite - look down, and zoom out real far - if you're in the right place you'll see the tops of the branches...

TY sir for providing me with a solution to a problem that has been plauging me for many a day now.... Not being able to zoom out enough.

What is the point of getting to the Kami oasis? Who CARES about that? and Why? The ONLY thing I care about is that bleeding PR spawn spot! Since traveling to this spot is only marginally easier than getting the Cleric Epic weapon in Everquest.

WHAT???!!! *clutches chest dramatically* YOU don't have 100 Kami fame??!! Sorry...I don't believe it. Surely by now Kami name their kids after you or something along that lines. I thought surely you had done just short of 40 beezillllion missions, give or take a few hundred million.

raynes wrote:That's my secret. I can get screenshots of any point in the game though, including inside the caves all around the oasis, the kitin lairs in the roots, the branches in the sky, anywhere. Buildings and animals will show as long as I am within 1K of the area I am taking a screenshot of.

I'm sorry Aelvana, but where should I send the BBQ sauce? I have 95 personal fame. Going from 90 to 100 is painfully slow. So slow that at level 150 spending at least 4 hours killing antikami didn't get me one point of fame.

I still highly doubt that 100 personal fame will do anything to open that place up. Mostly because there is nothing there. If there were Kamis, NPC's, animals, anything I might beleive it, but there is nothing there. Just to make sure I will spend the time to get the extra 5 fame points to test it. It might take me a week or two though.

I am 99% sure there are no cogs on the back of that building as I looked at it from all sides. I will post a screenshot from the other side tonight. As for it not looking like anything else, go into any Zorai city and you will see buildings that look like that one.

As for changing the congif file to allow greater zoom, that is part of being able to take those screenshots, but only part. Simply changing the zoom won't allow you to see animals, npcs, buildings in detail from a great distance. Now will it allow you to see things from any angle.

Too bad this "zoom" does not effect your angle of vision. I would like to change that. I feel like Ryzom's is a lot more narrow. (although not as narrow as Endless Ages)

Hmm, we seem to be going around in circles here :)

1) People refer to the nearby spawn as 'Kami Oasis Spawn', because the Oasis is the closest landmark
2) Currently, the oasis itself is blocked (so there is no real point in getting there)
3) The Oasis was open during Open Beta - so, lots of people went there, and it's a nice location (as are the other Fyros Oasis locations)
4) There will be something to see down there, just NOT YET :D
5) Obviously mobs may have moved entirely since Open Beta (talking about their spawn points here), but I got down there from Thesos - yes, it's difficult, but it's certainly do-able

Unless they changed the building, you're 99% wrong on that one :) It also has pipes.

There are no buildings made from metal in Zorai. In fact, there are no buildings made from metal anywhere on Atys, due to a complete lack of metal. Also, the smallest building in Zorai is the little single-merchant one, and that is still bigger than the building in the Kami Oasis.

OOO you're so mysterious and intriguing raynes :) So you have to change a far clip setting, and some kind of field-of-view value. Is it so impressive to keep the technique from everyone else?

I'll play about with this later, and post how to do it.

And what makes you think that is metal?

The hut in the middle with the chimney. Firstly, the chimney is obviously metal. Secondly, thwe hut itself is a silvery-grey colour that implies it is made out of something like sheet metal.
