I mean literally. I'm having a panic attack. My real life is arbitrary enough without floating in a void when I want to play a game.
Missions are just for faction (and money), which are of course optional. and repedetive. Real life equivilant is going to the store for groceries. That's not your goal in life, it's just one little task.
There's no structure at all unless I pretend there is. My imagination isn't too good when it comes to structure. Freedom is great. Complete lack of any order is a nightmare. I can pick what I want to do, but it's irrelivant.
I joined a guild. One of them once said "hey, I think there's a group hunting in Thesos again." (the desert) I was in the jungle. so... one opportunity. What about the rest of the time?
I think I'm going to go thrash around on my bed now. I can't stand still.

What drew you to Ryzom? What kind of structure are you looking for?

I wasn't looking for structure when I joined. It just looked nice. It also reminded me somewhat of Phantasy Star. I knew it wasn't perfect, but I figured it was something to do.madnak wrote:What drew you to Ryzom? What kind of structure are you looking for?

Hmm. If it's getting you that distressed, maybe you should take a break, look at other games. It sounds like you're taking this very very seriously.

The "Ok, now what do I do" ran me off into tester mode again. I have been testing a silly little Korean Anime game, brainless, but it has MUCH more structure than this game. Not quite drag you by the nose, but close enough.
I would like SOME reason to do ANYTHING. Why kill mobs? Why craft? what goal is there? And in other games when the goal got fuzzy, I would explore, but without a Fiber to premises or better and a FREEKISHLY experimentally good system, the lag is enough to prevent any solo "poking around" like I am used to.
Why this game has to alienate one type of gamer I just do NOT understand. I mean fighters, they are well fed, achievers, they get 250 levels in HOW many classes?! Socializers will FIND their social group even if on a "deserted island". But explorers? We are Straight out of LUCK! and it is frustrating beyond all reason.

It's like marriage after the honeymoon. Ryzom better have some kids soon...
Re: the lack of direction is literally driving me nuts
I disagree with alot of what you say here, I know that you dont know my skills but I think you have seen that my PRIMARY player type is explorer... I am going to agree with you wholeheartedly on that...lyrah68 wrote:But explorers? We are Straight out of LUCK! and it is frustrating beyond all reason.
I have a massive collection of screenshots, ideas & "things" that might mean something about something... Lack of knowledge about the basics keeps me busy as an explorer as I am an information geek I guess... I have many things I keep in guild, because it's "my" time invested in acquiring this info... I am always forced to consider whether to make things public, limited to Melinoe or adding it to WarCry.
There is alot here IG, the "Nevrax" 8 year plan appears to mean a trail of using stuff they should be telling us to keep us around a bit longer... I enjoy this game and my relationship with folks, but I am getting tired of this. The Encyclopedia stuff is interesting if limited, it distracts us with finding some back story while we wait on things that should be here already...
I am not keen on having to "unlock" things that ANYONE still alive now should be able to tell us. In order to ensure we dont make the same mistakes again, there should be a more clear path... I enjoy discovery, thats why I spend my days in DP looking around to document things and my evenings leveling with my guild or my wingman Mystakae... Things should start making sense soon but who knows. Why does a Matis patroller cause negative Matis/Karavan fame FFS ? My list is long but I will agree there are many things missing and I also tire of the excuses... Give us a reason to stay other than the folks/friends we enjoy...

Re: the lack of direction is literally driving me nuts
Yup, been there for a while myself. It's not that the world isn't beautiful, or well designed, it's that the content hasn't been completed. Nothing to do after you've played out the basics (not yet anyway, but the wait's been too long for me personally to stick it out even LONGER for content that may not even be good).
I spent the last few weeks grinding harvest and craft to be able to make more outfits. I just hit my personal goals in MQ armor crafting. Now I'm running around with max DP doing photo shoots with Ael to get something more out of it before I leave :P

Re: the lack of direction is literally driving me nuts
Gotta hit 100 then i can do this then 150 so i can do that then 200 and 250 then then.............. WELL then what? Oh wait I remember now it was in the interveiw. Then you start on another branch. So when your maxed the game will be over a year maby two. By then they'll have it finished or fixed or somthing.

You mean Phantasy Star Online I take it.faedyne wrote:I wasn't looking for structure when I joined. It just looked nice. It also reminded me somewhat of Phantasy Star. I knew it wasn't perfect, but I figured it was something to do.
