Why dungeons? We have branches high in the skies; Why not make travel on them possible? They fave their own flora, and perhaps fauna too. Would be cool to stand on the edge of a sky-branch and look down upon the Atysian lands.

And there could be giant worms carving holes into the branches -- to add some unique adventuring for Kami aligned parties.

I can see by your reply you haven't done some proper exploring, dear homin.

The branches can be walked, just find the place to get on :-)

It will come, I have read a translation of the Nevrax interview :D

Yahoo rules :D

everything up to now on the main land, will feel like starter isle did after a week on the main land, if only half the things they are planning get implemented!

Nevrax promised us a 8 year saga. After only 4/5 months they have kept the majority of the promises and delived a game that has had me engrossed for about a year now.

Ryzom to me is a little like Real life, you get out of it what you put in.

If you spend all day, chain killing mobs or harvesting it tires quickly. A lot like work does :o

I break up the routine in game to avoid this 'catch 22'. New things are fun, but imagination makes old things equally as fun.

I have hunted for many hours in two different way to keep the intrest.

1. standard mob farming for xp and levels
2. exploration hunting for excitement

I apply the same to harvest/craft and magic.

many months and still not bored.....

Well, depending on opinion, the branches most definitely can not be walked :) I took a trip to Darkmoor to see this for myself a good few weeks ago, and I have to say - the branches you can get on do not lead up the sky, they lead very quicky back into the ground again :) They go absolutely nowhere, and are not connected to canopy in any way. In fact, they aren't even half as high as the canopy branches :(

Admittedly the same thing as the canopy branches, but not part of the canopy at all, and you certainly won't be travelling on them :)

Darkmoor in Tryker is one place for sure.

Mobs can be seen on other branches.

So yes, share more of the secrets of Atys...... So much exists that has not yet become common knowledge.

This is why games like WoW and EQ have such appeal to the masses. The thinking is done for you.

I personally find that its each to their own. No single game has yet been written that will appeal to all. I love the freedom of Atys, it what keeps me here.

All games were created to entertain, all do it in different ways. Whether a game is good or bad is down to the players needs and wants.

FPS type games are great for a rush and a bit of excitement, very few have long term appeal (Counter Strike is probably the daddy of these for life span, becuase it was written, by the player, for the players)

Planetside & Eve - held players intrest for a long time, becuase of what the players put in, not becuase of the 'content'.

Stagic games are the similar, find the weakness in the AI and you tire quickly of them.

If I was to compare game types I would say the mass market games are like the role playing books with predefind results. Make all the right choices and you are winner. Ryzom is different in my opinion because the freedom means two people can see the game completely differently.

I guess what I am saying is its similar to comparing reading a book and watching a film. The book allows you to us your imagination and create you own view on whats written, it does however require the effort of reading. A film however provides all the detail for you, you don't need to think its all laid out ready present, little effort is required by the viewer. Both are entertaining. Both have equal merit and exist for different people.

I like to get a return on the effort I put. Neither 'type' of game is right or wrong (good or bad). They are simply different.

As for the game should entertain us....... It does, how it entertains us I have to say is down to the player.

I was indeed referring to Darkmoor. The idea was to have him exploring (you spoilers ;-)

Explore young Tryker! (But be careful, running around looking at the sky (not Sky) has gotten me killed to many times)

Darkmoor is one of those place you just HAVE to visit! Have you been to the 'secret place' there?

The reflections there are the best I have seen anywhere!
