mat question

Post by ayne31 »

Since my blue suit of armor is nearly done I am gonna leave to the mainland this weekend.

But I still got lots of q20 choice mats left over (harvesting for blue mats had some sideeffects :D ). My question is: When I mix choice q20 with basic/fine q30 will that produce worse stats than pure mix of choice q20. And/or will it produce worse stats than a pure mix of basic q30?

Hope I made my question understandable enough ;)

Since the level difference is negligible, a pure choice q20 would be better than pure basic q30. Also, adding in q30 basic/fine to choice q20 will decrease the quality of the item since it is the lowest mat Q that determines the overall Q of the item.

Thx but that still doesnt help me what stats I'd have actually to expect.

It would if you would think a little.

"the level difference is negligible" -> q20 fine has EXACTLY the same boni as q30 fine (or q200 fine).

Meaning: if you mix your q20 choice with q30 fine you'll get exactly the same result as if you would mix your q20 choice with q20 fine.

In terms of getting the most out of an item when comparing say Melee Fighting/1h/2h/CC fighting to the ql of the weapon, yes, QL will be a factor.
I've also noticed though that you can get any classification of a material (basic/fine/choice/etc) and it can still suck compared to other materials of a different type and classification. I've harvested some choice ql20 wood mats in the zorai starting zone that quite frankly, I wouldn't use in anything I craft, unless it's for a mission.

My point is it's not ALWAYS about the QL. Make sure you pay attention to the stat ratings of the material in question for the use you are using it for. I.E. if it's for armor and the durability is 0, do you really want to use that material?

OK, "mats", my first few days here I was like, "Mats? Why the heck would crafting be so dependant on rugs?"

Who coined this abbreviation? Am I the only one midly annoyed by it? :p

Its just that I did not ask for what you answered
I asked:
1. Will choiceQ20 plus basic/fineQ30 produce WORSE stats than choiceQ20 only
2. Will choiceQ20 plus basicQ30 produce WORSE stats than basicQ30 only

Regarding identical mats of course xcept for the noted differences. And statwise I mean the numbers given for:
overall protection %
prot. agains slash #
prot. against pierce #
prot. against smash(?) #
weight #
bulk #

I appreciate a simple 1. yes 2.no idea (p.e.)

AND I 'd appreciate if no one tells me to *think* a little if he is unable to *read* a little ;)

2. Will choiceQ20 plus basicQ20 produce WORSE stats than basicQ20 only

Combine those answers with "q20 fine has EXACTLY the same boni as q30 fine" and you have the answer to your original question....

Ill admit Im a newb upfront. Let me see if I understand this correctly then based on what you said...

Lets say for example Im making a magic amplifier. If I use these ingredients:

Fine QL 20 Shaft
Fine QL 20 Cloth
Fine QL 20 Magic Focus

and I used this:

Fine QL 20 Shaft
Fine QL 20 Cloth
Choice QL 20 Magic Focus

The second would be better though right? I mean the quality type doesnt bring down to the lowest denominator like the QL number does right?

How about this:

Choice QL 20 Shaft
Fine QL 20 Cloth
Fine QL 20 Magic Focus

Choice QL 20 Shaft
Basic QL 20 Cloth
Choice QL 20 Magic Focus

Overall the second one would be the better item correct? (of course these are all based on same material type just different quality levels)

The only thing you were referring to was the differnce in levels on how if you have 2 QL 20 items and a 18 ql item the 18 brings everything down so you would be just as good off having all 18's instead of mixing in the 20's. (if that made any sense at all)
