The level of your weapon is far less important than the level and type of AMMO that you are using.

Note: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO USE q80 AMMO with a q80 Autolauncher.... get some bigger stuff!

NOTE which animals respond more to which ammo.

Is ranged craptastic? Yes. Is it as bad as some of you make it seeem? No.

So just a few minutes ago I got this wild hair of a sudden and though "ZOMG how about liek I go and buy one of these gun thingies and go shoot up stuff with it for liek phat xp and lewt." (I didn't really think that but that's not important)

So I went down to the ranged merchant in Zora and bought an auto-launcher and some ammo. Afterwards I went out into the wilderness where they allow me to shoot stuff with. After 20 minutes of shooting stuff I realized that ranged sucks.

End of my story

Give me Lo-Pan (bad guy from Big Trouble in Little China) style eyebeams or bow and arrows any day over the current ranged.

Maybe if you purchased some decent ranged gear from me you would have had a better time ;) . But yes I agree even though I hate to admit it, with Tetra, that ranged seems like an after-thought in this game ( actually, a lot of aspects of this game are after-thought ).

It's still fun to two-shot someone with a launcher after accepting a pvp duel, much to their suprise. I also like to go down to pr with an ultra crap quality rifle of range and shoot beebee's at the harvesters from far away :) .

I bought all Q90 stuff and I was shooting >50 mobs with it and doing 30-70 dmg per shot.

Nice job on the stats guys, I didn't read this page before posting, just page 1 of the thread.

I'd like to see a comparison of Slash/Smash and Pierce Ammo on the same mob type.

The crafter stated the hits/min, which to me is the "number of uses per minute"

I think the whole issue boils down to this, Can a range ONLY person stand toe to toe in PVP against the SAME level melee or mage damage wise, and for how long before they have to pull out the sword or amp? My guess would be, no or Not for long.

My tweek would be easy, leave launcher and auto launcher limitations as is, tweek the damage per second up to make those two weapons for outpost siege/invasion times. Then UP the damage of bowrifles, pistols and rifles to bring them AT LEAST up to the same level damage of casters/melee.

I would NOT up mats requirements for ANY of it, in fact the bowrifles and all other "small arms" and their ammo should be lessened, since mages and melee do NOT have recurring EXTREME expenditures, nor should they. Range SHOULD remain a "cool" and rather unique "outlook" of a character. I don't think it should be "THE weapon that all sane players use" or the optimal weapon, but Ranged IS fubared to heck and back. Asking for a fix, even EXPECTING one is not unreasonable.

Tetra might not have a single drop of tact in his/her entire body, but...no one should ever HAVE to have tact all the time. I agree Tetra sometimes goes off the deep end, but so do I. And that does not change that point that MANY players that WANTED to go ranged don't even bother or even LAUGH at ranged fighters.

Correct, if you don't use the SAME Q level of ammo and gun, one or the other will not work as well as optimally could be. Just makes sense to me.

if you go back a page or two, you will see a big long argument where I said that your gun could only lower your raw damage per shot and a handful of folks claiming that I was wrong.
