Amps and spells -- How do you determine how high a spell that
an amp will take? For instance, will q80 amps be able to use a crystalized 100+ root damage spell?
Re: Amps and spells -- How do you determine how high a spell that
From what I have seen that depends upon the sap load of the amp. We did some testing on this last night and found that even after going through the motions you can not enchant an amp or weapons with a crystalized spell if the sap load is not enough to cast the spell at least once.narosh wrote:an amp will take? You can enchant an amp with a higher spell, you get the message "low amp to canalyze" when you use the enchant, and you don't benefit from the bonusesnarosh wrote:an amp will take? For instance, will q80 amps be able to use a crystalized 100+ root damage spell?

Re: Amps and spells -- How do you determine how high a spell that
Is the Amp ceilings based on spell level or caster level?
If it is the spell level, how are spell levels determined?
If it is the spell level, how are spell levels determined?
Re: Amps and spells -- How do you determine how high a spell that
Its based on sap level of the amp.
If the amp is created and its max sap load is only 100, and the spell you add to the amp requires 250 sap, you can't use the spell, although I think you can still add the spell to the amp, its just pointless.

For those who know about today, I have a supprise for you tomorrow.

Re: Amps and spells -- How do you determine how high a spell that
Actually I was thinking more of player cast spells taking advantage of worn amps instead of using a spell enchanted within them. My guess would be the player's level in that branch of magic.

As long as the intel requiremenst are met, yes... so basically, a 200 elementalist can wield a q210 amp enchanted with a lvl 185-spell fear although he is 101 in def affl.milesb wrote:Actually I was thinking more of player cast spells taking advantage of worn amps instead of using a spell enchanted within them. The quality of the amp determines the max level *of the spell*, not the caster. The level of the spell is usually higher than the caster (e.g. at lvl 165 you get 185-spells, at lvl 185 you get 200-spells, at 210 you get 230-spells) the level of the spell is obtained from looking at the number that appears on the brick or when setting up your action with stanzas. In other words, you'll find a lot of lvl 185 elementalists looking for q200 amps (corresponding to the spell levels of the upgrades they just got)

You can use an amp up to 25 Q above your level, assuming you have intelligence maxed.
The "level" of a spell is equal to the credit it takes to cast it -- not what level you got the spell at.

To be more precise, the level of a stanza is equal to the credit it takes to cast it. The level of a spell is the level of the highest stanza used in that spell.aelvana wrote:The "level" of a spell is equal to the credit it takes to cast it -- not what level you got the spell at.
If you make a double-heal spell using two level 100 heals, and add a few options (concentrate, bomb, whatever), the total cost of the spell may well be over 300, but the level of the spell will only be 100.
