More event triggers.

Post by martinr »

Did the Bodokin thing, killed all the plants and the extra cows spawned and the bodokin was attackable, shortly died afterwards. Got me thinking....

Wouldnt it be cool if the devs had events planned in advance, that wernt just set for a certain date, but were triggered by player actions?

Take the kitin invasion for example. Players go out hunting kinchers and the like, kill x amount of kitin, triggers a raid in retaliation OR if/when guild missions come in, the guild is asked to destroy something of the kitins, and in retaliation to this a region they were fighting in suddenly becomes a raid area, like Knoll of Decent became, with again, x amount of kitin, or reaching area y, triggers the boss.

Or, take the example of the kami and karavan roleplayers wiping out tribes, what if this triggered a retaliation of these tribes on the players home cities, or outposts.

Even better....

One event triggers one out of a possible 3, depending on the outcome, which then does another 3, even small things.

This then makes each server progress differently based on players actions and results.

Even have certain missions trigger an event.

Basically i think that events and or missions should really be like the skill trees, branching out into new possible routes after each one, or leading to other missions, not just repeats again, take the barman rite, you have to go to various places that they tell you to go to, before undertaking the first mission.

This would therefore let the players shape the world, as they can either go about their grinds, or delve into making the story progress through their actions.

Complex i know, as it would require loads of small or huge events thought up, and some may not even be used depending on how things went. But would be kinda fun.

More NPC interation with each other too, maybe tribes going to war with each other, or at times, attempting to do something nasty to the other faction which triggers other things.

Very good ideas, but before each major event there is a patch....I think therefore that it takes too big a change to stream it to us [like the Bodokin "event" is streamed, etc.]. I do notice a bit of lag if in Psychopia Knoll when the Bodokin appears...more of these "events" happening at the same time could be a problem [though maybe they'd put them on a delay of some kind?]
