I have recently returned to Ryzom after a few financial situations that made it difficult for me to continue subscribing to the game (college tuition, etc.). I was ready to greet Chapter 2 with open arms and prepare for yet another entry in the Saga. However, I am noticing that the community is no longer as close and friendly as it was previously before my departure. I believe that this is due in part to the new PvP system along with the decision of faction: Kami or Karavan.
While I believe the story is evolving and that this new system has proved to be perfectly OK, I have noticed the community itself has taken it in a new direction. I believe that it is our actions that is changing the game, not the developers'. I would like to propose a multi-guild pact so that we can unify the community once again because that is what I found to be most unique about this game: A tight-knit community who would not hesitate to lend a helping hand, regardless of guild or race. I hate to see all of us become divided, especially outside the game.
This is not to say that Roleplaying and motivated PvP should halt. Roleplaying with factions and carrying out these attitudes is perfectly OK as it is a part of the game. However, the community may be losing its touch with itself and those who were once friends are now becoming mortal enemies. PvP can turn once fantastic games into a nightmare of mindless PKing, "elitism", and greed. These do not fit into Ryzom, at least not in my opinion. Ryzom is better than that.
I could babble on and on about the issue, but I would like to propose a pact, a treaty if you will:
As players of Ryzom, we understand that we are engaging in what is supposed to be an enjoyable game for the whole community. Though we may be fighting amongst ourselves through the faction vs. faction system placed in with Chapter 2, the actions would best not to be carried over into real life encounters, whether it be in forums, chats, or otherwise.
We realize that community is one of the most important factors to the Saga of Ryzom and if the community fails, there is a good chance the game may do the same. We, the community, are in control of the future of Ryzom and it is in our best interest to preserve our friendships, through different race, guilds, factions, and so forth.
This is not to hinder role-playing or PvP as these are completely free actions. However it is important to remember "Honor" as this is what is holding our community together. Be kind to your fellow player, and remember, they're just as alive as you are, not 1's and 0's produced onto your monitor.
Feel free to sign it for your guild and/or for yourself. If we can all come together and keep what we had going before Patch 2 went Live, I think we will be in much better Health than if we don't.

-Stellus
Community Pact: Game with Honor - Sign if you wish.
Re: Community Pact: Game with Honor - Sign if you wish.
I do think you are right, I also think it is hard for majority of poeple to stand by as Nevrax (sages/gms/devs/whovever is setting policy) is doing everything possible to provoke the conflict (Someone tell me I'm wrong here...).

Re: Community Pact: Game with Honor - Sign if you wish.
I'll sign. My RP and persona in game is just that, in game. This doesn't mean if someone accuses me of something I did not do, that I won't stand up for th truth.
Re: Community Pact: Game with Honor - Sign if you wish.
I'll commit myself and my guild to it.

I'll sign. After 3 1/2 years playing Ultima Online prior to coming to Ryzom, this is how I have always believed things should be done.
The fact that someone killed and looted me or my guildmates in game did not mean we could not have a perfectly friendly discussion on the forums or even chat peacefully in "neutral" grounds such as the frequent shard-wide player-run events.
One thing I will say, though, is that if war is declared on my guild or if my close friends are attacked, while I will keep it in game, I may not confine my reaction to the PvP areas. I can't, for example, guarantee that I will team, rez, supply, inform, or otherwise offer aid and comfort to members of an enemy guild or alliance after they've initiated hostilities, regardless of the region we are in at the time.
That does not mean I hate them in real life, though.

Though I cannot sign for my whole guild, I willingly enter into this pact. I've been having a great time RPing in game with everyone, but I'd like to think we are all good friends in the end.

Re: Community Pact: Game with Honor - Sign if you wish.
i don't have a problem with it, i know this is a game and ppl are playing roles. while i do think most are ok irl, there are those who i think are complete and utter wankers both ig and irl and that's based on how they really act and say
thing with ppl saying "oh i'm not like this irl" to an extent this is true but there's always some truth in all the roles a person chooses to play.
let's hope that we can keep the ig stuff ig and not go after ppl's real life stuffs

I have more heart than anyone would know
I will let you in on a little secret... I am doing this for my newborn daughter... no one else... I like that game, but I do not have the time anymore. My first priority is to my daughter. End of story.

womin - female homin? I love it!
I don't think of this so much as a pact Stellus, and I had to read it twice, but I believe you covered some wonderful bases. edit: not a pact since there is no real punishment or anything final for slips, ending it.
However I will agree to try my very best!
I'm already nice to noobs. I overpay them or help them if I see them running about. I answer questions readily in region.
I think answering questions in CoI or other regions is the biggest thing we can do to help. For one thing it just breathes life into the community. Particularly for the smaller areas. It's good to talk about new things you find or RP, even if other people (especially not reading the pact) don't RP or make fun of you. Even if they aren't your friend, they will make one with someone else who agrees thou's and thee's are silly!
