Ranged prices?
Ranged prices?
I don't have much information on ranged fighting so far, but it looks like you need to be a crafter and harvester to make ammo and guns to be a ranged combat fighter? I am after some information from someone who has used range combat for what the price of ammo is? I have heard it costs a lot to make, do you actually make more than the ammo or can you not afford to have ammo at all times? I would like to play something like a caster/ranged fighter if it would work...right now it seems as if there is a lack of information/experience of ranged fighting.
Re: Ranged prices?
Ranged combat is not very feasable no matter how you look at it.
If you don't make your own ammo/guns, then you will be spending lots of money constantly buying ammo from someone (and there arent too many people mass producing it). Each clip can cost around a few thousand dappers and contains only 12 shots. Also considering that using a gun leaves less loot on the critters (since you are shooting them and it's more harsh on their body) you will not only be spending lots of money on ammo, you will not be able to make much money through ranged combat.
If you decide you want to avoid costs by crafting your own ammo/guns, think again. While the pistol plan is free (comes with ranged crafting 1) as in the pistol ammo plan (comes with ammo crafting 1) if you want to get into rifles you are looking at absurdly expensive skill point wise. Each ammo plan is 100 skill points, or 10 crafting levels.
Furthermore, the ammo plans require quite a few mats to produce. Pistol ammo alone takes 9 mats to produce 12 shots. I've heard rifle ammo takes more mats, but I can't give you an exact.
Effectivly, you are either going to be dumping tons of money and see little return XP wise in ranged combat, or you will need to harvest for hours only to be able to produce a few clips.
As it stands, ranged combat is a novelty. It's expensive both in money, and skill points. I really think they need to lower the skill point cost of ammo plans, and increase clip size by a large ammount. It's a bit odd that making the actual pistol (5 mats) is by easier than making 12 bullets for it.
Maybe if clips contained like.. oh I dont know, a 100 rounds, it would be a bit more feasable.

And hopefully if they do decrease the SP they will refund the people who already have those skills some SP as well.
Re: Ranged prices?
they did skillpoint refunds on skills a few times during beta, basically they just delete the skill (not the level) from anyone who has it and gives them the credits they spent on it back.lenik wrote:And hopefully if they do decrease the SP they will refund the people who already have those skills some SP as well.
I'm pretty sure that slashing zorai rifle ammo is still only 9 mats for 12 shots, not going to log back in and double check though since I'm heading off to sleep soon. Basically for every three shots you fire from your gun, you need to recover 4 mats that can be used in construction of the ammo to break even... heh...
just paste in pretty much everything mordred3 said and immagine that I said something similar while sleeping
