no-one seems to have mentioned some nice people deciding the event was not to kill the kitin boss but to kill Aen the desert blade.............not clever.
Of the probably 100+ (many of a quite high lvl) people following probably 10 survived and only because they run away.

otherwise quite exciting event all round, brought the community together slightly better than the last grind event.

Oh and I doff my cap to whoever dev decided to start the event in pyr as this meant many low lvl people who did not have the dyron tp could travel and take part in the event. I know some of you who already had the tp and the spawn could have done without the trip and if you were anything like me you actually tp'ed to pyr from dyron only to realize I had to walk back again but for 5 mins of you time it made the event possible for plenty of low lvl people who otherwise would only have seen the "grind" side of ryzom.

Couldn't agree more. There is a place for the 'grind events' as you so rightly put it, but I think everyone prefers these shorter and punchier events that get the blood going a bit more.

Well said :-)
Get people out and about and seeing the world and it suddenly becomes a whole lot more interesting.

Yep, I was pretty miffed when our 'guide' led us straight to Aen and her supporters :) To make things even worse, I pressed Enter for the chat window just as the respawn window appeared, and ended up back in Pyr :(

Needless to say, by the time I TP'd and ran back to scene, the boss was on the brink of death, and I'd half-enjoyed an event yet again.

Once again a thread intended to celebrate the fact that many people can come together to achieve a goal has been turned into a general flame fest.

I shan't bother in future. You guys do what you like, but I'm fed up with it. Now I realise why so few people visit these forums.

My Lord Synn,

I am but a 'humble' mercenary and one who wields a blade, which as we are all aware these Kipucka, giant or not, are quite resistant to... however I distinctly recall a whole army of us, descending at once to blunt our bone and chip our shell upon the chitin of the great Kitin warlord.

Not one group, not two, but an army, with representatives of all the homin of Atys.

Our company's warcry is 'wealth and glory' and we crave both.

Reach for my dappers and risk your fingers in so doing.

Speak words that steal the glory from my deeds and risk having your tongue split like a stavon sword.

We Fyros are a warrior breed, born to fight, with acid in our veins and fire in our heart.

Your words and claims of individual glory raise your own deeds on a pedestal and demean those others who fought bravely.

Choose your words with more care My Lord, or you may find yourself unable to crow, but rather to gurgle like a swimming bodoc.

Just humble advice from a dapper hungry... 'cuthroat'.

My your deeds soon live up to your bardic talents and may mahduk smile upon you. Cool winds and clean waters my friend.
(IC)

My dear Lord Jyudas,

your advice was carefully noticed and understood, yet it was not required for I would and did not look down on the deeds of other warriors, healers or mages who fought brave in this battle or other wars.

It seems that you misunderstood what I tried to announce to all those homins, that felt offended by the original words, that this battle was not won by my direct companions and me, but that only with the help of all we could prevail over the Kitin menace.

Yet you seem to be worried about our name mentioned, which was not so much meant to glorify us, but to cheer the "luck" we had in accidently running into the Kitin commander. I tried to explain that WE could not have won this battle alone... but something must have urged you to think we want to be seen as heros. Pardon me saying this, my Lord, but your thoughts and worries on this are false.
I can not sing many songs or tell many tales about killing beasts or Kitins myself, for I am a healing Lady, not a fighting one. My duty and my desire is to heal those that have been wounded badly or sacrifieced themselves for hominkind.

Therefore, accept my apologies if you may have seen or thought wrongly about my words, for they were not meant to hurt or offend anyone.
But please, the next time you encounter a letter of me, read it carefully, and remember that my desire is not to create pain but to ease it.

Ma-Duk blessings to you, my friend and may your fire never expire.

My post should have been taken as IC. I thought it was obviously IC and I thought the original post was IC. Guess not. Post amended to say IC on it.

lazarus wrote:Tonight, a new portal between Fyros and Zora was opened. This was the culmination of a mighty battle between the Homins and a force of Kitin both in the lands of Fyros and Zora.

On the Fyros side, the huge gaggle of Homins was wiped out a couple of times, but eventually a team from Rulers of Atys aided very well by some members of the Army of Atys found and fixed the Kitin Commander and gave time for the main Homin force to gather and bring it down.

With impeccable timing, we reached the Fyros side of the new portal just as our valiant Zorai cousins were coming through after defeating the Kitin menace in their own homelands, and there was a fine meeting of comrades from all races to celebrate the dual victory of our defeat of the Kitins and the opening of a new trade route between Fyros and Zora.

Once again the Homins have demonstrated their ability to put their differences aside and come together to defeat the common foe...
Love the "rulers of atys and army of atys" , I mean, you must have been so blind not to notice everyone else :)

Regarding the "impeccable timing" , I believe that would be more like Fyros freeing their side, then 30 mins later, Zorai freeing their side.

I mean, you must have been so blind not to read the rest of the sentence...

Just curious about what problem everyone seems to have comprehending such a simple statement. I'd really like someone to point me to where I claimed that I single handedly brought down an entire invasion armed only with a small fruit knife, cos I've read and re-read my initial post and to me it seems completely clear.

I'll try again.... There was a team made up of members of RoA, with a couple of people from AoA. We saw a big Kitin called, strangely enough, the Kitin Commander. At that point there was no-one else around, or none that I could see, and region chat placed the main Homin force in or around Dyron.

We tried to take on the Commander and were doing OK until we got a few Ocyx make an untimely appearance and killed a couple of key healers which lead to the group getting wiped, at which point the Commander wandered off. Cue the most timely appearance of Tember who rezzed us (OK, missed that point initially - apologies Tember) and we set off in pursuit of the Commander.

We caught up with him at Malmont Farm and set about him again, at which point we (and Tember) began calling for assistance.

Shortly thereafter, the rest of the main force turned up, the Kitin was killed and there was much rejoicing.

After it was dead, a bunch of us set off for the new portal, and when we arrived there were a bunch of Zorai just coming through who told us they had just defeated their own Commander.

Is that clear enough, or do I have to spell it out one letter at a time?
