It's very consistent that I crash at least 2-4 times a day while running into Zora. Lately I've been calling it "Zora: crash capital of Atys" I want to say it's the load of all the NPCs/textures that causes it to crash since I cannot ever recall crashing anywhere else.
Does anyone else have this problem? And does this happen frequently only in Zora or does it happen in Pyr, matis/tryker capital cities as well?

Re: Zora crashes
Turn down all your graphical setting to the lowest possible config. Then see if you still have the same problem. If not, they play with the setting until you get ones that your computer can handle. If you still crash after turning everything to low, then you should probably contact tech support.sathla wrote:It's very consistent that I crash at least 2-4 times a day while running into Zora. That's pretty scary since that's when it happens nearly every time myself. It must be an evil karavan trick
I hope the devs will look into this.

Re: Zora crashes
I've started teleporting into zora from right outside of the entrance to avoid crashing. It's starting to get expensive.
If I'm running and I head into the south entrance and am at about the place where the guards and hawkers run into each other, I have to stop, watch to see if all the buildings are popping into place, wait for my harddrive and all the computer guts to stop grinding away like they are crushing glass, and then send up a quick prayer in hopes that I'll actually make it in this time without crashing. Usually doesn't work. This is with my far tile (or whatever it's called) set at max distance and the number of characters details set to max.
If I turn those 2 settings down to minimum, I can usually get to the same place, stop and wait for the grinding to stop, pray, and creep through. Not always. Last night I made it all the way to the stable, stashed my packer, transfered items from inventories to inventories, closed some windows... and started spinning in a circle as a crash message popped up and I crashed out.
Most of the times this happens I get access violation errors saying it was writing to a virtual address that doesn't exist. I have copies of those errors here I can send in or post or whatever.
My personal, non-technical guess, is that the massive number of NPCs that the game is having to draw as I enter is just overloading my computer. I've sent in tickets requestion that the number of NPCs be reduced. Nothing has happened. There is no reason for that many to be there other than to make it look full. I'd rather have a mostly empty city with the needed NPCs and a few thrown in for prettiness, and actually be able to enter the city, than to have a completely cram packed bustling city.
And it could also have to do with the fact that all those source nodes are right there too making more work for my computer.
I have heard from many guild members that they are having this same exact experience in most of Tryker too. I'm guessing it has to do with drawing all the water or something. Haven't been able to get there myself yet to experience it in all it's crashy goodness.
In closing... please cut down the number of NPCs and such.

Re: Zora crashes
you might wanna try one or both of the following:
download total commander from http://www.ghisler.com, navigate it to your ryzom folder, mark all the files by rightclicking and dragging down, go to files -> change attributes, activate change date/time, then click current and click ok, after that start ryzom and let it patch
secondly it could be your ram, which as you have already noticed get's taxed very much by ryzom, go into your bios and try lowering the frequency to 333 or 266 and/or increasing your CAS latency

Re: Zora crashes
I was getting problem with Ryzom crashing frequently. Then I noticed that my graphic card, a Radeon 9800 Pro, was overheating. I installed a fan on the side wall and emptied the first two PCI slots. And it has now been running stable for over a week, no more crashes for me
