how not to crash when tp'ing into FH

Post by lootking »

im sure many of you suffer from this nice little bug. you ticket into fairhaven, and then, youre crashed to desktop ya?? :)

ok, here is how to prevent this crash pretty much 100% of the time

1- once you clicked to use your ticket,
2- alt-tab out of game(if you have another open window that is not minimized this works)
or ctrl-alt-del to force yourself to the desktop by opening task manager, then close task manager
3- wait until you hear the town music start to play, then reenter ryzom

hope this alleviates some of the frustration of going to fairhaven by ticket :)

When did this start? I used a ticket to get to Fairhaven last night and had no problems at all.

I crash about once each 2 weeks. But then I have sound completely disabled.

I TP a lot to FH as well.

I crash every time I tp to a Tryker city. Other ports are fine in Tryker, just the cities. This is very frustrating and find I spend less time there because of it and find myself going to other lands to use packers and such. I will try this tonight and see if it works. And you are right, if it works it's alot less of a pain than restarting twice.

I crash when approaching Yrkanis either on foot or on a mount, practically every time, this has only started since the last major patch though.

To avoid this, I stop short of the city, and get a sandwitch from the fridge, make a drink, do some dishes, then come back to the game, this is long enough for the CPU to catch up to what ever the game is doing at the time, then I am fine.
For those who know about today, I have a supprise for you tomorrow.

This would be funny if it wasn't so true...
I could guarentee a crash if I approached FH by water. Land's End especially. I would see my system grind to a halt, my hard drive access light flicker franticly and stay on solid. If I pause my travels just as this activity starts and wait for my system to settle down I could venture further.

I turned my game settings to Low and I was able to get around pretty much okay. Unfortunately with the latest patch I have had more crashes. I think its the same deal but now that I have a mount to race around I'm getting in the same windfall of cpu crunching and hard drive spinning and then *boom*, CTD situation even faster. I hope that Thursday's patch will correct some of this.

Hmm I find it odd that one of the recent patches cleared up my OH GOD NOT TRYKERLANDS lag! *faints*. I have had a few Tryker alts that have sat patiently on the back burner until I just recently caught one of the "World Tour" groups heading from *insert this week/month' s trip starting and ending locations here* that happened to End in Trykerlands, on my Fyros main.

I thought well...I need the tickets...time to get out my trusty swimsuit...I got some swimming to do. I hit everything from one corner to the other, getting all tickets except Fairhaven. Then I broke down and had to go to Fairhaven to sell stuff. So...I set myself heading towards the town on auto and went to the frig and grabbed a soda and some snack foods and by the time I got back I was almost in town, I turned a bit to adjust my swim and then I was there...and I almost fainted....NO LAG!

I have sound on, shadows OFF (for me they are STILL bar codes), clouds off, ground clutter off when traveling (so I can see that Cute that is hiding behind the ground clutter, as well as a little bit of lag prevention), I have 512 ram (would have more, but don't have the "extra" money right now) and I haven't noticed my harddrive wining at ALL in Ryzom other than when I load during TPing or during respawning.
