I hope some fixes are in soon...

Post by jamkull »

I just installed this thing and for some reason when the game loads up i have both my explorer bar and a partial window border still around the screen. it is extremely annoying. i can't seem to get the game to go "full screen". it refuses ctrl + enter and of course alt + tab is out of the question.

i just hope at least a fix is soon in the works for that.

i played this game in phase 2 beta and didn't remember that ever being like that. don't know goofball fuged that up .. but this isn't looking good for me even sticking around after the free month that's for sure. and i haven't even created a character yet. i can't stand annoying things like this.

Remember, there's a Config screen that works, too. There's a checkbox for Fullscreen.

And if THAT annoys you, wow. How can you get out of bed in the morning? :D

Along those fullscreen glitches, I've noticed that 1280x1024 starts in a small window on my desktop, but there's no window border or title bar, so it thinks it's fullscreen, but Windows thinks its a, er, window.

Well i tried that.. and guess what.. it says full screen in the config. and i even switched it around some and then clicked apply with it at full screen selected.. and it still has the partial window border there plus my explorer bar down at the bottom of the screen.

So smarty.. got any other bright ideas?

You need to choose "D3D" or "open GL" in the config. Don't put it on auto if you are having that problem.

Anyone have any idea which one it goes with if you have it on auto? Im running it on a Radeon 9800 128mb. Just wondering if one or the other has a significant performance boost or not.

I guess I could just try both and answer my own question lol.

well i have it set for D3D, i'm using a Nvidia 5900 ultra 256 mb card. but that wouldn't be a display driver nor card issue.

that has something to do with how it is programmed. but apparently it is only in the first few screens where you make a character. which they need to fix. but at least it's not in the actual game.

other than that.. there is no option in-game nor in the config to allow me to custom the controls. why on earth does anyone that play computer games want to use the directionals for movement. especially when there is alot of mouse work envolved?

i've used WASD for so many years... and most other gamers i'm sure prefer the same. unless you are just a computer newb.

i've looked all around for a place to customize this thing and there is absolutely none. i guess i will dig around and see if i can't find a .ini file somewhere i can change all that around. but i shouldn't have to hack the game to get it to run like i need it too.

Yes you can config the controls however you want. Just hit "k" in game and it will pull up the key config. you can then right click on them and edit to assign new keys. I spent the first 30 minutes playin the other night with arrows keys and then made it a mission to figure out how to change it to wasd. Hehe..... enjoy.

One word of warning.....I think a couple of the wasd keys are assigned to other things...so just be aware of that and maybe reassign a few of them.

Why use keyboard for movement when both mouse buttons work?

ah, thank you very much.. even though i went ahead and found the XML file in the ryzom\save directory and i just did it manually.. and i noticed how they were assigned to there stuff, which i just reassigned it to something else .. which i think may have been easier in the long run.
