Eh.. mounts

Post by lariva »

I find it completely rediculous that I cant do anything other then sit on the damn thing - just last night I was running around on it with 6 cutlers behind. If fighting were allowed while sitting on a mount (or at least in walking mode) i would have killed them 1 by 1 without accumulating 6. The minor problem is that as a mage, unless i kill them before they come up close i will die. Considering 10 seconds to get off the mount.... no thanks.

Secondly, those poor guys would not have to die when cutlers got side tracked to some small group of people hanging around as i was passing by with the wind in my hair.

Lastly, I can see a great potential for griefing here :)
walk into roots, collect the nasties, and PVP using mobs as a weapons, they cant touch you because you are too fast but they will get sidetracked if someone else is standing near by.

In short, I think ALL forms of fighting and teleportation should be allowed.

The only exclusion to the rule might be foraging, it pains me to imagine what kind of animation would be needed to forage while sitting on a mount.

Just my 2C

Ranged fighting would be really cool from a mount. Of course, new animations would be needed and that might be the biggest inpediment to it happening anytime soon. Argo needs to break of at a more reasonable time too. Mobs are a bit tooo persistant.

Yeah the mounts add a whole new aspect to the game. They were only intended as transport. But, you bring up a good point. Useing them as a weapon by releasing dogs of war would be a nasty side effect.

Im not sure I like this. It seems to be a harassment only thing to do.

But I guess If you line your troops in traditional old fashion battle lines at a prearanged location you could send in the agro mobs as a first wave of attack.

Trouble is the dogs will eat their master.

I think it is the perfect solution for ranged weapons. I could shoot my rifle from the mount with a range increase.

To play the aggro role to our advantage, I wonder if we can train all of the kitin that have invaded to the camps that the guards are protecting to wipe them out?

Also, If your Mek doesn't take damage until you are dead while riding, I am wondering if you can pop an invul, or use your 'speed' skill while on them?

Re: mounts
Yet again, seems the universal vapor lock that the digital collective known as "developers" have reissued a run boost called "mount".

Hell, folks just comming out of the stone age were able to figure that "mounts" are a hella battlefield multiplier.

Would you be interested in a game where you could buy a "mount", form up in ranks with your guildmates and maybe...I dont know...CHARGE!!!! with lances leveled at your enemies?? Wouldnt that be "just too cool!!"

Or how about something like a chariot??? yeah..a chariot, with a swivel mount for your autolauncher!! and extra storage magazines for those way too heavy ammo stacks!!

Noin, on a mount you both seem to take damage. And you can't use actions.

mounts walk slower than players run
mounts running costs a LOT.. especially when you consider that a full inventory of ammo barely gives a teleport ticket worth of mats at QL100...
mount food is ungodly heavy... lowers the already low carrying capacity of ranged fighters...

mounts would not suddenly be useful for ranged fight simply by allowing folks to shoot from them.

not until they release the more expensive yet ultra light Doggie Food
In response to the ignorant players out there:

I have more heart than anyone would know :) I will let you in on a little secret... I am doing this for my newborn daughter... no one else... I like that game, but I do not have the time anymore. My first priority is to my daughter. End of story.

that's still not going to suddenly make mounts useful for ranged. There are so many things wrong with ranged right now, that even trying to claim simply making them work from mounts would fix it, is just silly.

Tetra is right, Ranged fighting ATM is fubared beyond "easy fixing" it would take a packer linked to the mount, both invulnerable to ALL damage that gathered ammo mats on their legs just by walking around (which would be abused by other players).

Ranged need SERIOUS overhaul soon to make it viable as a skill. They recently adjusted crafting mat costs...Tetra...did you check how that patch affected Ammo and gun crafting?
